We have people just walking into shops and walking out with things. I was witness to this not long ago. Staff have been told not to confront these people.

    This is true.
But it's due to a deliberate govt police policy of not bothering about theft.

Of course there's always plenty of police time available to tackle MPs being called rude names, or tasteless jokes online etc.

The vast majority of the petty/violent criminals up here are British.

My home town is probably about 50pc white British. The remaining 50pc long time Asian ffamilies and more recent Eastern Europeans.

I'd say about 90pc of the junkies and alcoholics on the street are white British.

The police have been informed numerous times about the drug dealing going on and done nothing about it.

One of the problems we face is increased crime in our area due to a lack of police presence in our town, we are seen as an easy touch now.

Thankfully after Brexit Britain will be overflowing with riches that the 20,000 less British police officers who were sacked by the EU will be rehired plus 20 to 30,000 more.
The sunny (safe) uplands coming soon.

Actually that could be one of the questions on the next referendum.
How many more policemen should Britain hire? and you then fill in a figure.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

Yes, this is obviously bad. What has it got to do with a second referendum?

Just having a chat to pass the time. As a second referendum appears not to be on the agenda at the current time. Time is better spent on the issues that really matter to people at their local level. Rather than on subjective speculation. As is often the case these days politicians end up chasing events. Rather than proactively addressing them. A London centric viewpoint doesn't hep those in the Shires.

How about sex workers? 90% British too.

The ones on the street maybe - because they're junkies too.
Those behind closed doors - probably 95pc not British.

    .

I don't think just having more police officers makes a country safer.
There's a lot more to it than that.

However it would be a step in the right direction.

The many causes of the Brexit majority (racism was only one) have continued to be ignored by the London centric Government. The fog surrounding Brexit has blinded them to those issues and/or is a good excuse to CONTINUE to ignore them.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

I'd argue it does. It seems well documented that less police officers makes the country less safe - less pro-active / community policing, less on shift so longer response times and more tired officers. So the converse must be true. It won't be perfect, but it'll be more effective, and you'll still need all the other stuff (community / youth / social work services / government direction and so on) to make things safer.

Some counties have such poorly staffed police forces that you'll only get a visit if it's urgent.

It's the tangential stuff as well - poorly staffed custody suites potentially means that police officers need to take people on 2+ hour round trips to book them into custody.

The extra policing for big events now seems to be coming from cancelled rest days - so the officers that are there are far more tired than they should be (it's not an easy job). This also contributes to sick leave due to fatigue and stress.

Foreign Nationals are over represented in English and Welsh jails. I seem to recall being told that 5 to 6% of the prison population were EU nationals.
That would seem to marry up with my own anecdotal experience.
