Working Hard Debt Diary - Here goes

Thats when its dangerous don't you think. Its the lets relax a little and then wham a huge amount of debt. Hopefully this last 18 months has taught us not to go there again but I can't be too careful...I'm just so not going there ever again.
So much so that as I was pondering today I figured that I need to have a cc for emergencies (cars springs to mind) but that gets cleared each and every month. This needs to be the new discipline. Its generally the food/petrol/cars budget which goes over!

My remaining debt is on loans, all the credit cards got cleared, so we now have one card each with a £500 limit that has to do us food/petrol/emergencies, and on payday I clear it all off. It has worked really well since about October when we started, so I am hopeful it will continue - there have been plenty of months when we are skint and close to the wire, but we have never been over the limit or not been able to pay it all off at the end of the month.

Well, its paid for at last! £3295.50 outstanding balance on the holiday hurrah! and nothing on a credit card yay! Its all inclusive so i've not got to save oodles of spending money and can start throwing some cash at the cards again. It didn't feel good, I've had to juggle my budgets and I felt I could have put that money to better use but holidays are not negotiable in our house.
My eldest is off to France tomorrow for the week on an activity holiday with school (another £500 i'd not planned for but I've taken it from his savings account) so it will be a cheap food week for me at least!
My target is to pay £4k off OH Barclaycard by nov when his 0% runs out. I am sick of juggling these cards and want them gone! and it looks like summertime is here at last woop woop!

Wow paying off a holiday thats fantastic! Well done to you. Holidays aren't negotiable in our hour either. Ours is only really six weeks or so away now and I need to get organised. Mond you we're not going anywhere as exoctic as Egpyt though.
I feel like you do about our cards. I'm desperate to get them all cleared.
We've been having problems with our PC this week. Its hobbling along at present having had a load of work done on it by us. Trouble is we can't afford to get a new one for a while so its going to have to keep going. Fingers and everything else crossed.
What a cracking weekend. I went out for a bike ride with the kids this pm - lovely. One of the three was moaning at every point but they all said they enjoyed it afterwards! Thanks, its been hard work saving especially with all the car troubles too but I can't believe its paid for at last, its a big relief i can tell you. Egypt smegypt! All holidays are good! If I had my way we'd be going to Menorca! but OH's pulled ranked and fancies more exotic climes.
Ive just had a text from my eldest he's boarding the ferry now, bless - Im really missing him, its going to be a long week!
Just look at your signature £11k! it makes me smile everytime I see it! and sparks a little jealousy too - thats good it spurs me on! I've been obsessing about (paying for)this holiday for too long now and have let other things slide but i'm going to have an e-bay/amazon splurge this month and see if I can make a few quid. i'm getting a bit fed up with MSing - told you my attention span's not too good!
Well done on the exercising front - don't know if i could get on a bike! Bet you were like mother duck with all your little ducklings following behind youquack quaack
my laptops got a broken lid, I have to prop it open these days but its not getting changd till it dies fully and then i will be ordering through Quidco!
Bye for now cgxCC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!0 -
Its feels like ages since I've posted but not much to tell really.
Another month of bill payments have gone out - all good and helping to reduce our toxic debt. Got the B/card statement today and was disappointed not to see a big fat zero on it - £17 interest from last mont. Needless to say this has been paid off today! This is the card we're going to use on holiday so it will be hammered whilst we are away but it will be cleared from the holiday fund kitty on our return.
Picked up quite a few MS's this week. I've got three to do on Tuesday next week and a couple more the week after. I'm finding it a bit of a pain at present but needs must.
Just starting to progress things on ebay again. I've left off this for a while but I've really got to get this final £11k of debt gone. Its only going to go if I hammer at it from all fronts: reduce costs, MSing, MBing, ebaying etc etc.
On the ebay front I'm decluttering the kids toys and outgrown clothes which I am sure will yield a few bob. Mind you its all easy to do when the weather is pants but not so easy when the weather is lovely.
On the cycling front. We were all planning an cycle to a cricket event last night. OH had checked all the bikes during the day (he was working from home!). We go out to get on them and mine has a flat tyre!!! Very disappointing....new innner tube needs - more money to be spent!
Pre holiday I seem to spending all the time. Bits and bobs for the children and us etc. All needed I guess but when you're not used to having to spend money its hard. The clothes budget will certainly be stretched thats for sure.
Off to do some more cleaning now....I know very very unusual but visitors tomorrow mean its got to be done!Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0
