Oh thankyou, thats lovely. Its a long haul thing this DFW'ing. Ive just got to take the rough with the smooth, we've accumulated this debt over 15 years and 2 kids so I know it will take time to clear it.
I am taking the scenic route so may be able to shave a few months off my DF date yet and its been an eye opener living within a budget - one lesson i'm still trying to learn - hence the debt increasing this month! Anyway, enough rambling, the tree is still standing and OH has bought me a waterbutt! (He's still got a lot to learn about budgeting too!)
Ive made 2 carrot cakes this afternoon for MIL birthday tomorrow! A low fat one and a yummy scrummy one! but which is best??? Only one way to tell  cgxCC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!0 -
20 paydays, 11 paydays, 6 paydays whatever the distance left to go we are all in control and getting towards being DF. We are all learning to live within our budgets and not beyond them. Like you CG our debts took years to run up, we were lucky and had a few cash injections to clear them but we never fundamentally learnt the lessons of how we got into debt. I'm sure we have now thats for sure.
I could have done it without this site - if only losing weight was as easy!? I certainly will be continuing posting on here when we get DF.
Thanks for the advice on the car ladies . Eventually caught up with OH tonight and we decided to take the money!! So by the mid of next week at the latest we'll have paid off the Barclaycard.:D:D:j
So our remaing £10k of debt (OMG did I really say that?) is only going to get paid off by the monthly payments. Definately no big payoffs to come now. I am so looking forward to update my signature later in the month:DWorking Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -

Thanks for those kind words skcollobcat10  much appreciated.
I think what we did in the past was plan stupid. Its wasn't living extravagently or anything it was just living beyond our means for too long, reduced income whilst on mat leave, and not facing upto out situation.
Our LBM came on slowly and took a good few months to get upto full alert levels. When we got there we embraced it step by step and now we are step by step approached the finish. I can't wait.
Its still hard at times and there is a lot of the time I feel like I spend all my time on this PC MBing, MSing, checking the finances etc etc when I could be doing other far more interesting things.....moan over....
As you may gather I'm not in a particularly positive frame of mind today. I am feeling very overwhelmed by the volume of 'home/kids' stuff which needs doing like yesterday! I've made a start (well a list) and that is good for me. I'm going for a swim tonight and a 'run@ in the am and then I'm watching my DS2's school assembly before heading back to work for the pm. So I'm positive and focusing on clearing the B/card by next week!Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
This has been a week of highs and lows. A real rollercoaster of emotions etc etc. Nothing really major in the scheme of things but all things which can knock you off kilter. So the downs:
- Having to pay an extra £270 on my car before it was collected by the buyers - I wasn't happy but I've let it go now!
- Having to fork out a small fortune for the kids activities at the start of term
- Feeling like I've lost the plot this week. I'm so ready for a break and it hasn't helping seeing all my friends disappearing off for half term. I'm working all next week bar Monday (BH) and Tuesday (normal day off). OH is off on Friday in an effort to keep Childcare costs down and give the kids a good time.
- Paid £3800
into my account yesterday from the sale of my car.
- Stepped up my fitness regime, bought a swim pass and went running - so all positive stuff
- Generally felt more positive than negative this week
- getting some money back on the insurance from my old car.
- inching slowly towards being DF

I know what you mean - that feeling of one step forwards two step back, when in fact we are making real progress! I felt the same this week after paying off my egg loan - should have felt fab because another £4k of debt has gone forever, but instead felt "but I still have £28k to go"......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Tried to post earlier but I was cut off mid flow.
Its been a great week really as I've sold the car and got the cash which is winging it was to pay off the CC. I just think I'm a little worn out with everything, I've got too much to do and it just all got to me.It does sometimes doesn't it.
I think also because we are so close to being DF we can being to realise what it will feel like and that makes the acutality of now feel worse. That sounds a bit deep but I am sure someone will know what I mean.
Time to fess up as well. I orderd a case of wine this week. I joined a wine club at Xmas to get a cheap case and I had to have four cases a year. The last one I cancelled (you can do that) but this one i took. However I paid for it out of my MBing income. I feel a little guilty that that is debt busting money but small pleasures
. Well it would be if it arrived any time soon.
