  • Well done on all fronts!

My OH took a days leave today so we took the lads to Skeggy for the day! Its been lovely, fish chips donuts icecreams cockles etc etc... a never ending day of food :D fortunately the fun fair doesn't open till March so weve just marched up and down the front a few times let them have £2 each on the slots and had a kick about on the sand, all good fun and we've had a really nice day. So thats the last of our budget spent for this month, ive got the busfares and dinner money in a seperate pot for next week and OH gets paid on Wednesday so i'm determined to eek it out till then.

Can't believe your next card will be almost blitzed this month, 2 cards in 3 months is really going some, fantastic! :T

And an even bigger well done on the 3lb thats brilliant, things are definitely looking up! Have a nice weekend cg x

  • Sounds like you had fun in Skeggy:cool: . Always worth having days like that as it make you realise why we're doing all this.

My OH is a bit down at present. He's pretty sure he'll be getting his bonus either next month or in April however he's down with the fact that its going straight off the debt rather than on something for us. We had a conversation this am about how we'd clearly spent it on 'us' before we got it and now we have to face the fact that it needs to go straight off the debt. He knows this but as he said he's worked damn hard for 12 months for it...whilst I sympathise a little.....it needs to go off the debt.

Matched betting is coming along slowly but surely. I started off really slowly to ensure that I understand what I am doing. To date my £40 investment has generated £50 profit which isn't bad for a few hours work! I'm taking all the advice available and trying not to rush but I hope to add another £100 onto that by the end of the week. Clearly to start with I need to put the £40 back into the Christmas fund from which I borrowed after that I'm aiming to get use the profits to pay off the IF card asap.

  • Wow! MB sounds fantastic. And that's just in a week?? I'm going to have to investigate that myself, which forum did you read up on it on?

I sympathise with OH bonus, I don't think we will have that problem this year. My OH works for NHS and has reached the top of his incremental spine so its just an inflation rise for us this year. He has had bonuses for the last 3/4 years but your boss needs to put you forward for one and he's got a new boss who isn't as keen to recomend people, which is a shame as he does work really hard and I think he deserves a bonus and like you, the DFW date definitely needs a bonus boost! In the past we've just frittered them, typically, this is the first year it would have made a difference and i don't think we will get one. I hope your OH gets his and lets you 'invest it' wisely in your DFW future! :)

We've had a really good half term. Seem to have done loads, but spent relatively little which is the way I like it these days - I am the grinch!

I will be glad to get them back into school though :j I love my Mondays to myself. my back is much better now so I am going back to work on Tuesday

 Forgot to say, we had a quote to decorate the hall stairs and landing, and its come in at £600 plus materials!!!! needless to say we are now saving up - something else to add to the list! and are going to get a couple more quotes.

bye for now, good luck with the MB cg x

  • Thanks for the post CG. The MB is progressing slowly but surely. I'm going very slowly. The threads I've been reading are on the gamblinh thread which are all very helpful. Its worth having a go at and to date I've got back the money I put in so I will keep going whilst I can.

I know OH is very lucky to be getting a bonus in these times and after working for it for ages he wants to enjoy it a little. However we just can't do it this year and need to use the bonus to reduce the debt. Tough but we spent the money no one else. Like your OH I'm in the HS so bonus's are in our reward packages although I do have an annual increment this year. Not much but it will help.

I agree that it was lovely to be off (I think!) but lovely to get back to a routine today.

Sounds lovely to be planning some decorating. At least your OH considers using decorators, mine insists on doing it all himself. Nice to have something to save up for and to look forward too.

Thanks CG. I've tried to post a couple of times lately but without sucess. Must be because I'm using my DD's laptop...that or I am losing the plot!

The dishwasher arrived last week and is so lovely!! It certainly does make you realise how much easier these gadgets make our busy lives.

I've been enjoying the matched betting. I've generated about £180 to date. I enjoy the challenge of finding the deals, matches and placing the bets. It still feels a little seedy (sorry all you MBers) but I can argue with the logic or the totals. Its also because my OH doesn't know I'm doing it. Its not that I am hiding it I'm just not telling him. WHen I've made £1k I share it with him.

Ebaying is OK although unusually I've got nothing listing at present as I'm waiting until the new fee's come on stream. MSing gone quiet as well although I did pick up a couple of small one's today.

    How's things with you CG?

Well done on the MB - I loved those early days! Although I have done most of the easier offers, I really should get back into it.....perhaps after the marathon when my brain is not so mushy!!

Wow well done WH, i'm going to read up on MB and have a go! Perhaps it will be my new MS! I'm really frustrated with MS at the mo, I was off sick for 3 weeks with my back and managed to grab loads of jobs but now i'm back at work, our system won't let me on to RE and its so frustrating seeing what ive missed throughout the day! It doesn't take much to put me off.

I'm waiting for the free listings on e-bay too, I sold another 4 items but I think one of my early Feb listings the buyer is trying to scam me! She never paid although said she sent 2 cheques so i never sent the item and we both agreed to cancel the sale now she's lodged a complaint for not receiving the goods and has stopped e-mailing me! My mate said they just take the money from your paypal account which I will be furious about if they do because she never paid and she wanted to cancel the sale!! It definitely puts you off!

hypno i'm not surprised your brain feels mushy you're juggling a lot of balls at the minute! not be long till you are off skiing and a well earned break!

I'm sure OH won't mind you gambling if you go halves with him on your winnings! Has he handed over his bonus yet??
    take care cgx

Its really frustrating with Ebayers do that CG. I got really cross & upset when it happened to me last month. However as I think that I said I've got to ebay to generate the income so....I grin and bear the occasional difficult buyer!

    Good news though....

RBS the swines have done exactly what I predicted they would do and written to offer me a 0% BT :rotfl: . What are they like, when I ask they say No No No you'll have to open a new card etc but they low and behold they write and offer me one. Well this means because of the large limit on the account that I can BT at least one card (prob MBNA) and half of one of the LOB cards....I need to jiggle the figures to see what works but its looking good.

The other bit of good news...

OH is getting a pay rise :j which will be about £80 per month. This will certainly help the finances and bring the DF date forward by a few days. Chuffed or what!
