Working Hard Debt Diary - Here goes

  • Morning! Its a snow day, kids are off school and so I am too Yippee! - that sounds a bit too enthusiastic doesn't it!

Well done on the RBS card it will soon be gone never to return!

Did 2 ms's yesterday and only have 1 more booked in, they seem to have all dried up so, your e-bay tips above have inspired me I'm going to spend my day listing on Amazon, Green Metropolis and Ebay to try and raise a bit extra this month.

barrys-lass, sorry to hear about your job, hope something turns up for you soon.

Hope you all have good days today whatever you may be up to

  • Thanks for that compingirl. My plans for my day off are out the window but my aim during the day is to sell some stuff on music magpie. I'd love to get another £20 or so from that today. If I can I want to get some more piccies taken so that I can list a few bits tonight.

I've got a MS today but I'm going to cancel due to the weather. I've a couple lined up for next week but its all a little quiet at present.

  • Had a great day off with the kids today. They spent forever outside with their friends. It was a cracking day and I could see no reason why the schools weren't open but for us it was just lucky that the closure feel on my day off.

Had a super fantastic day on ebay sales and made £115:j . I don't do that very often so I was well pleased. That is in effect the balance of the RBS card so I'm within touching distance of getting that cleared :D . That will feel so good.

However in the spirit of debt busting I'm sure it won't be long empty since with a £6.5K limit its perfect for BT another more expensive debt. I spoke to RBS today who didn't have any current offers but she said to call again next week..something in the offing me thinks. She mentioned LOB rates but to be honest a 0% is more attractive to me now since (fingers very crossed) we'll be able to pay it off relatively soon.

Feeling a bit weary tonight....must get some energy from somewhere.

I need to crack on with my next batch of ebaying. I've still have a pile of stuff in the garage despite having sold a lot recently. It will get done.

  • OK not much time has passed but I've now found my motivation again. It never leaves for too long.

Assuming (and this is a big assume:p ) that my OH gets his bonus in March and allowing for me generating an extra £200 per month on top of the debt payments we are 9 pay days away from being DF. I've just shown OH my wonderful spreadsheet and even he was suprised :D . I can't quite believe it myself.

Just as I was feeling weary and getting a bit jaded I'm back up there rearing to go. Big listing night coming on again I feel.

Off to update the signature now.....:D

  • Woohoo! just 9 paydays to being DF! That is fantastic!! What will you do with all your new found cash?????

Its going to take me a couple more years to clear our debt but it is going down and not up so thats a plus. I might do as you have and take the car loan out of the sums because we won't ever be without one, and OH is hoping to change his car at the end of this year as long as our CC debt has been vastily reduced!

I didn't get round to listing anything yesterday - I had a mad baking frenzy instead! But I am going to do it today - infact, i'm off to do it right now!!!!

  • :D 10 items listed on ebay and a couple of new ones added to Amazon so lets see if they shift, before I list any more - i'm going to stagger them as I got my self in a knot at xmas with all the parcels!

thanks for the motivation! Good luck with your items

  • I know I can't quite believe it myself - big cheesy :D

Mind you lots of hard work to get there and stay DF.

I still find it hard not to count the car loan in the figures but we'll always have the loan. Mind hopefully next time he changes his car we'll have the cash to make up the difference....

I find staggering my listing on ebay easier. I too have got myself in a muddle with parcels etc - not worth the bother. Slowly but surely is my motto now.

What will I do with all that cash at the end of the year (just about my entire salary!) as disposable income...some thoughts:
    • buy some clothes (of course I'll have lost my 2 stone surplus by then)
    • Make regular savings
    • Overpay the mortgage big style
    • Sort the pensions out
    • Up some of the budgets which are still quite tight
    • Get some things off the wish list which appeared in the kitchen over the Xmas holidays
    • All of this keeping my DFW ways of course:cool:
As you can see I've not really given it much thought...
