  • Thanks both kind positive words very much appreciated.

I think I've just hit a low with the debt busting, hit a low with energy reserves etc at this time of year, hit a low with not being able to do the things I want to do as you all know the list goes on.

My aim tonight is to map out a plan for the next 12 months and knock these debts off one by one....

  • Ok tea for 5 is now underway, I've been off all day but nothing like leaving it until the last possible moment.

I really do need to reflect, regroup and recharge the energy levels for this debt busting. Whilst I was at swimming lessons I realised that all my salary goes to servicing the debts  . I also pondered on how much I've pulled back from doing the nice (not necessarily £ things) with a view to getting DF - not going out with friends, going places etc etc. I've been spreading myself too thin and I really do need to get some perspective to enable me/us to tackle the big push to the end. I think I may be having a Hypno moment (thats a compliment Hypno!)

So kids, tea, kids to bed, dog walking and then debt planning - what an exciting evening I've got ahead of me!

  • Let us know what plans you come up with - I could do with a kick up the backside too and you will motivate me to put some plans on paper also. I am feeling fed up about certain things, this christmas OH will be 40 and I will be 35 (my birthday is one day, his the next) It is also our wedding anniversary. We work together all year, and have no help with the kids from anyone, so at christmas we like to go away just for a couple of days to have some 'couple time' and celebrate all 3 occasions. It usually goes on the cc (what got us here in the first place) but I'm feeling really sad at the thought of not having that little break this year

  • Oh bless - virtual hugs to you as well ((((hugs))))

When I was walking the hound I was reflecting on the year gone by. We've thrown every spare penny at the debts this year. Its been very hard, very demoralising and at times the tension has shown well and truly, between OH and myself and sometimes at how we've reacted to the children.

Equally though its been rewarding, motivating, challenging and at times fun. We are so much stronger having come through this but I think as we enter our last 12 months we need to shift the balance towards the fun element. That doesn't mean lessening the debt busting but making time, and money :o within budget to have a little fun and some good times....

I hope that makes sense. I'm working out some cals and I'll post later on my summary...

keep smiling Miss Opt you are moving away from your debt towards being DF :T

 Having a Hypno moment :rotfl:

The debt free journey is a long one, especially when you are working with big numbers like we are, and even more so when you go at it hammer and tongs like we do.

so there are bound to be ups and downs, highs and lows, etc etc.

But remember, with each low, follows a high.........:D

  • I could also add each high is followed with a low and that would be very miserable so I'll go with low to high.

It was a compliment - ref DF life and life balance !!

could you not go away to a hotel cheaply either through clubcard deals or cheap travelodge (from £9/night) or de vere (from £10) or britannia rooms - those 2 offers were on www.hotukdeals.co.uk ?

i have found before that the time between xmas and new year can be cheap, and sunday nights are always cheap as are commuter hotels at weekends and tourist hotels midweek generally.

we go cheaply and if b/fast is not included i take scotch pancakes to have with our tea + coffee or go to mcdonalds etc;) x
  • Sounds great value Firesidemaid - not with 3 kids in tow though for me.

  • i know what you mean once you have spent some money it seems like 'well, i've spent all that now, what does it matter if i buy/spend a, b +c as well' - it's a bit like when on a diet when you have just eaten a big cream cake:rolleyes: (in my case h/m flapjack)......

i've recently re-discovered o/s with a venegence and am making, baking like a mad thing - but then i eat it all:o - i've done h/m lemon curd, flapjacks, soups, bread, chicken kiev and fishcakes (using tinned salmon and leftover potatoes - i made 9 of these) x

i also had the high of a good couple of weeks on ebay and now i'm suffering the lows of a 99p week - it's now when i can't be bothered to do the listing i nee to do!
