Ok New week, new challenges......
The bad news. When I drove my car this evening it was making a loose rattling noise (very girly description I know). The result being that I am popping into the garage first thing tomorrow for them to look underneath at what is clearly loose !!! There is no way that this isn't going to cost me...
The good news. My visiting Uncle (who I don't see very often) deposited £80 in my hands this am to buy an external hard drive for our PC (which is showing signs of nearly the end of its life). How kind was that....I was really touched. Particularly as that item was one on our list of 'things to get or do' when we've the money.
The other news. OH got the new car loan agreed and the cheque arrived today....which i've paid into the bank. This means that we'll settle the existing car loan and begin payments on the new one from Feb. The two missing payments (Dec and Jan) will be used to buy some conservatory furniture and be paid off the debts plus the surplus from the loan. About £1000 in all. Whilst as you know I would rather not have the new loan the surplus will be at a lower rate than the CC's.
And more news. I'd closed off our Cahoot loan and transferred the balance to our MBNA card on a special BT offer. Well despite posting the MBNA Bt chq off to my bank weeks ago its hadn't shown as a credit on the account. Fearing it was lost I did an online BT and was getting my OH to stop the chq this am. When I checked this am what is showing on the joint account but the BT. So now I've done it twice!! What its means, for anyone still interested, is that I'll now pay off some of our IF (16.9%) debt which was the next target anyway. Gosh thats a jumble but it will mean in a few days time our debts will stand at in repayment order:
IF £6364, MBNA £4526, B Card £4500, RBS £5040, Visa £4749, = £25179
The order changes when I move stuff around but the IF one has got to so since at 16.9% its very scary  So that is my target to get it cleared...
Finally picked up another couple of mystery shops and one of my ebay items is doing well. All positive.Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
Glad you are feeling a little more settled this week with the whole loan situation as I know last week was a rollercoaster for you. Will you update your signature to include the loan, or is that prospect too scary at the moment? Well done on the BT's and it was very nice of your uncle to give you the money for your computer
Take care x
P.S - Hope the car isn't too poorly when you take it inEmergency Savings Fund - £11002015 Mortgage overpayments = £0 -
Thanks MissO - yes last week was a rollercoaster and this week is more settled.
I'm not sure about my signature which is why I've not touched it yet. I think that I'm going to set my Debt target at the £25k and leave the car loan and the mortgage as stand alone items. When we are DF(exc loan/mortgage) next year (that sounds soo good) then we'll start to tackle the loan/mortgage but I can't get my head around that until next year.
Yeap fingers and everything crossed on the car front.
The other positive is that having just checked our mortgage lenders website our new tracker (got on the 3/11!) will now drop to the same rate as our current fix therefore it won't be costing us the extra £100 per month I was budgeting for :T . That will help with the debt repayments come Jan.Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -

I have had some good news also with my mortgage - it is dropping from £774 to £702! - When I rang up a couple of months ago (before the two interest rate drops, it was due to go up to £986 so I'm well pleased :jEmergency Savings Fund - £11002015 Mortgage overpayments = £0
