Working Hard Debt Diary - Here goes

  • I am quite good at putting money into the various account pots each month but when I've analysed the spending diary I've realised the cars have cost us more than I budgeted for and until mid year I was paying too little into the account each month.

On the plus side OH's new car is taxed so thats one lot of tax I won't have to find next month plus his insurance is covered from the loan surplus. That means I've still to fund my car tax next month and insurance in January.

On the plus side I've worked 3 extra days this month which will all help with the debt busting and one of my ebay items is going for £46:cool: ..

I'm going to ignore the ironing tonight and aim myself at a large glass of red!

  • sorry, but i just don't have an iron or an ironing board!

gave it up a long time ago.....i get stuff straight out of the washing machine, shake it well and place on hangers over the radiators etc to dry. i tend not to buy stuff that obviously will need ironing;) and my OH doesn't need shirts for work either. my clothes are not creased and no-one has ever noticed/realised that i don't iron.

start not ironing a few bits............
  • Hi just wanted to post that I am feeling a little fed up at present.

I think the combination of things recently has left me feeling a little down and this has been reflected in my enthusiam for being a DFW...

I still want to be debt free and know that by this time next year we will be. However my OH new replacement car loan has disconcerted me hence my feeling rather fed up. I think I need to focus on my plan for next year. I 've my own spreadsheet of plans, cc etc etc but I think I may need to revisit my snowball from Jan with my income being fixed and see what that throws up.

I think I've thrown out of kilter by my OH's action and I need to get grounded again. Plan for tonight - get LT DF plan in place  I feel better already.

I feel like this everytime I hit a new Debt milestone - eg when I got under £50k - I feel elated, then I feel deflated because no matter how much I try, no matter how much I have paid off, I am still a bloody long way from being debt free and able to do the things I really want to.

    So, firstly, ((((hugs))))

Now......grab a coffee, and a pad of paper and a pen, and get brainstorming your way through the next 12 months.

You know that the end is in sight, even with the new car loan etc, you just need to face it with the determination that you know you have.

    xx

  • I second everything Hypno says - I am currently working hard to pay back a Citicard which is nearly there, but the card is in OH's name and I know that I have no control over whether he wants to use it (which he could well do later next month when it is our wedding anniversary) And all my efforts will be in vain - Just keep going, you will get there x
