  • Thanks all - I might be DF but I don't think that I can desert this thread!! I'll be on the MFIT2 from next month with the mortage challenge. Maybe you can start a thread and I can post my rambling thought on it?

Great news I became an Aunty again yesterday:D:D:D. I'm well chuffed!

I managed to break my mobile yesterday:o. So this needs sorting! Contacted the insurance linked to my joint account - £30 excess on that and then if they can't repair it they will repair it with something similar. I'm getting a couple of quotes for the screen repair from some online sites. DD and OH want me to get an Iphone - you'll see why in a sec!!!!

OH got some fab news this week with a small bonus (£400 net) due on payday this month. :D Always nice and particularly when unexpected..... however....why is there always a however with my OH? He wants to get......no he's not mentioned a car... he wants to get Sky HD with sports .

Now I know that the extra money should go to paying off that last bit of our debt but :o I don't want to deny OH the pleasure. Does that sound feeble? Much as he drives me barmy at times with his no being on message at times he does work blinking hard for monthly income and he does enjoy his sport. He wants me to get a new phone so he won't feel guilty about the Sky..................I am resisting big style :D

Let OH have sky hd for xmas! good cashback on Quidco and £50 M&S vouchers if you upgrade on sky website so a good time to get it! Good news on the bonus too!
Its stopped raining and Life is good :) enjoy it :) cgx

  • congrats on becoming an aunty again!

re. the sky sports with HD - i have relented and let my OH have sky sports again (on the grounds that it is not necessarily forever) and i get the equivalent for my mobile phone contract, although he has said we can get rid of sky multi-room to compensate;).

anyway... i had a mailshot in the post from sky yesterday with an offer for free upgrade to skyHD if you take movies for a year, often then sky sports doesn't cost much more - maybe ring them and check (i can always have a look in the recycling bin if you need a code).

is your OH offering his bonus money to pay for it?

ps. loving the new total x
  • Thanks FSM!!

I'm loving being an Aunty for the 3rd time:D

I'd seen an offer for Sky HD recently as well but the box came for free with subscription to Sky Movies subscripion for a year. So a phone call today got us the Sky HD box for free with sub to Sports for a year . I can't say that I am delighted about it but as I said yesterday OH works hard for his dosh and he does love sport, particularly cricket and will enjoy the cricket over the winter.

Ref my phone. My broken one will cost £45 to get repaired or £30 via the insurance. OH wants me to get a new one. I've got an old PDA (bought before our LBM) which syn's with my PC (the one thats breaking!) but the trouble is that I don't keep a paper diary. I'm on PAYG at present any only use my mobile to make calls when I have too (I've a seperate mobile for work) and use my free texts! What am I trying to say? I think that I do need a new phone however I don't know what I need or how I am going to use a new one and therefore what sort of phone/deal/package to get:rolleyes:.

We will be able to afford a monthly committment to a phone package, it just seems really strange to be committing to a extra monthly outgoin, on top of the extra sky outgoings, however we are nearly nearly DF .

Sorry to be moaning on...............If I reflect on where we were 2 years ago it doesn't bear thinking about?!

Onwards to get a glass of red and a little choccy:D

  • Hello Hello Hello

Just thought I would check in since I feel like I've been away for ages. I've not done anything exciting just the usual grind and concentrating on my studies. I've been to a Day School today which was good.

On the DFW front nothing much has happened. I'm still trying to balance the books but thankfully OH has slowed on the decorating front so no more spending on that front at present. The only reason is because we seem full on at the weekends with footie matches, activities etc etc.

    What has moved forward:

MBing is moving again. I decided that I needed to move it on and release the £200 that I've with one bookie. Just as I launched on my mission to release the money I also got a couple of really good reload offers with another couple of bookies. So I'm MB full on now but I am getting there. I'm aiming to turn my £300 into £500 by Xmas!! Given this is my only extra income at present it needs to generate something. No I am ashamed to say that my ebaying and MSing has ground to a complete halt. I think that because my day off is spent generally studying I am loath to do anything else and I guess because my 'need' for the extra income is not quite so great now my motivation is not there:o

OH has got Sky Sports back plus HD. He's made up. I didn't appreciate how much he missed it for the last 2 years. Clearly I've not missed it and much as I degrudge paying the extra pm it keeps him happy.

DD managed to get herself selected for another school trip late next year . All of next years payment will be OK its just the £100  next week which will be a challenge!! I could do with some cashback coming through (£190 pending) or some back charge money (£100c) but I doubt any will come through before Xmas. Mind you OH's bonus money can fund the trip payment and the rest will be budgetted for. I can't believe that I've been keeping a spending diary for 2 years:rolleyes:. I'm looking forward to analysing this years spending to determine the budgets for next year with no debt to pay off :D:D

No movement on my mobile front mainly because I don't want to spend any money either on a phone or on a monthly contract.....OH is telling me I'm being daft but after two years of watching every penny being able to spend a little comes quite hard. So I'm putting up with my broken, but working old mobile:o

  • Its looking OK whats important is that we still actively reducing the debt, even with Xmas overspends etc. I still don't like spending though as my dithering on a new phone just goes to show!!

The void of the debt busting has been filled with my studying which is good I guess but a little relentless.... I feel my focus has changed.

The figures are good aren't they :D:D We won't be DF by year end I don't think but hey Jan 2010 will do for me since it will have taken us 26 months to get here/there:rolleyes:

The food budget is still causing me grief. We're down to the bottom of the freezer and the back of the cupboard so I've had to do an online shop. £200 :o which isn't in the budget since the budget is all spent. Again its a cashflow problem rather than a budget problem I think....
