  • It is soooo hard sticking to a budget at xmas isn't it? I wrapped all ours last night and daughters looks far better than son's and now I feel guilty and will have to work hard to avoid "guilty present buying!"
    1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j
    2nd debt - MBNA - £6,618.52
First in many many to go - baby steps and all that!
First lump sum to go - fingers crossed!
    08/06/09 - [STRIKE]£11,497.68[/STRIKE] NOW - £9,757.75
  • It is hard. We don't go over the top like some i know but they are only little once aren't they? My youngest is only 5 and is so into Santa that the magic of Xmas is so lovely. I've bought both DS's the final pressies and I've ordered DD some clothes she'd like. Next seem not to have added the last bits of my bathroom order onto my account (£30 worth) which is nice although I am sure it will work its way to my account eventually.

No wrapping done for me yet. This will have to be done along with cards at the weekend I fear!

  • I love watching them open the presents. OH has done a brilliant job at getting bargain things for the stockings. Daughter is more difficult as she is older but I think I have done it all now :j

Unfortunately I do think that Next are very efficient - sadly for us!

  • Hello :)
Its DS1 birthday on Sunday so I have to get that out the way before I think xmas but I have ordered all my books CDs and dvds through quidco so have made a start. Am going xmas shopping monday & hope to get the rest of it then.
Budgets are blown again until March 2010!!! Car glove box broke - thanks to fiddling kids grrr - new lid fitted today cost me £119!!!!! and expensive trip to dentist yesterday I need a replacement filling and a crown £300!!!!!!! I will get about £120 back ffrom the dentist but still in shock!

Hey ho, can't put a price on your teeth :) cgx
CC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!
  • 2nd attempt at posting.

I was trying to post last night and after typing out a typical long post I was logged out...

I'm so sorry to hear about your car news (sounds just like was has happened to me a few times) and the crown (ouch in several ways). These things happen don't they but what a time for them to happen. It happened on a slightly smaller scale to me this week but first I need to fess up :o:o:
    • I went to a clothing sale with DD and spent £167 :eek: on loads of much needed clothes for DD and both DS's (usually I only buy for the older DS since his clothes get passed down but I was feeling very reckless) and 3 tops for me:o:o. This has to come out of hte DF next month
    • DD has somehow broken the cable on her 12 month old laptop. On line search was £35 but as it was urgently needed (only PC in the house that worked!!) I had to buy a universal one from a local store £37.
    • I caved in and bought a new phone :o:o:o on a contract :eek:. Its a lovely phone and I'm over the shock of actually getting a contract but at least I/we can afford it now....This will have to come out of either this months surplus or next months debt fund.
    • Conservatory roof is leaking. Phoned repair man today who is coming to repair tomorrow:rolleyes:
    • Central heating broke yesterday however after much fiddling it is now working again for the momebnt. We've got BG cover but I know that they don't cover the cost of new boilers (fingers and everything else cross)
    • My withdrawal from one of my betting accounts has gone missing! Needless to say I'm on the case with it.
So my issues are mainly self inflicted to be honest.

Oh and another fess up - I'm planning to get my hair cut tomorrow and not at my usual venue of the local college but at a normal hairdressers. This is only because I don't have the time (OU studies are cranking up to a deadline next week :eek::eek:) and when I looked in the mirror this morning Worsel Gummage (does this show my age!) was starring at me. Mine you when I told DD she said was I getting it coloured too....lovely...

  • I'm so glad the heating is working normally again as is the shower - simple things in life eh!

I've got to make a decision ref Xmas pressies! I bought DS's another couple of bits last week which have now arrived however when talking to a friend at the weekend she has offered me one of things I've bought for DS2 for next to nothing (although I would give her some money for it). Now do I send the originals back and save my self £50??? I felt like I've fallen of the MSE wagon at present but thats only because its Xmas and it seems to be a constant spend spend spend.....

Now I'm off to do some food shopping, a dump run, hairdressers (big treat) and collect the DS's from school.

OU work is on track which is FAB however its going to be a heavy week this week so I am on track with the deadline for next week. Next week is all school plays, concerts etc etc --- Lovely!

  • I would send the item back and save money :)

I feel like the wagon has completely left me behind, but I am not being as frivolous as I would have been pre-MSE and I bet you're not either. Dust ourselves down and step back up to the challenge in January.

Typical all these things happening at the same time, but at least the heating is back - why does it always break in Winter!!

Enjoy the school plays this week, mine have started....

  • Thanks IMD's. I think I will send the stuff back since the Xmas budget is already overspent!

I'm feeling really weary tonight, I may be coming down with something. I've been working hard on OU work for the last couple of days and maybe that has caught up with me. Early night in store me thinks...

I'm ready for the holidays as well. Some quiet time coming
