Hi WH! Just a little note to wish you all the luck for becoming debt free! I have been following your story from the start and you are such an inspiration to so many people on this forum.
I am totally addicted to this website, even now living in the US and I always make a point of seeing how you're doing. Keep the posts coming, even if they're are short!0 -
Happy New Year! Don't you just get the feeling this is going to be a great year?
WH well done! You are almost there, are you keeping this thread going or will we find you on the MF board?? Good job on the holiday, we are looking to book something soon but no idea where to go - It would be Menorca for me but OH likes to go different each year so ive left it with him to sort out!
Glad you survived xmas, our decs came down on 2nd Jan tee hee - I love them when they're up but cant wait to get back to normality.
Ive been absent from MSing over xmas too, far too much to do and then my laptop bust so ive been sneaking 5 mins on the kids but its not enough! I don't get it back for a couple of weeks yet, and its proving a very long wait!
The biggest disaster is ive not been able to update my spreadsheet! we did well on the xmas budget (I only bought for family this year and crossed my eldest nephews of the list too!) but everything else has gone to pot! Car disasters, PC breakages, and we've bought a new bed!! So my debt has gone up again, and I have made a mental note 'much try harder!' for this year. I'm beginning to think money is like weight - there is only so much in the world and as one person loses another one gains it! Ramble over loving your new signature cgxCC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!0 -
Thanks for all the support. You guys are all so fab helping pick up folks who dip. Much appreciated.
I've not done a lot today took my boys for a haircut, did some banking jobs in town, posted a couple of parcels and walked the tribe back home. Back to school tomorrow so a chance to get some studying done!
Baked a double batch of cakes for the lunch boxes and rustled up cAsserole for tea. Just some ironing to do now and of course get school stuff sorted out.

Good to hear from you CG, glad you had a good Xmas as well. Sorry to hear about the extra debt but it sounds like it was necessary. We had a small shopping spree as well which involved Oh spending £200 on clothes!! He only does it every couple of years so I can't really complain cAn I? He has also cleared out a huge amount of stuff from his wardrobe, I wish I could be as ruthless with my clothes. At least now we know it will be paid off rather than before when it was ignored tbh .....pre lbm of course.
We'll all be back on track soon enoughWorking Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
FAB waking up to a another snowy day today!!! Schools are still open though...
Brought the finances upto date including paying off the holiday flights and deposit. That brings our funds down to nearly zero but it will soon rack up again...
Still a lot of o/s items to pay. Still quite a lot of outstanding items including Xmas overspend, OH's clothes overspend
, and clothes speding for DD's ski trip
. I can either carry this forward (which I don't really want to do) or pay it all off next month. This means that I won't be able to pay much of the debt next month but this needs to be done.
Off to do some jobs, get dinner organised, stock up on veg in case the snow prevents much travel later on!! Joy.........Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
Yay! Snow day! Schools closed, public transport cancelled! It was my 1st day back at work since xmas and weve all been sent home early and its still snowing! Glad I dont work tomorrow, things should be back to normal by Thursday hopefully.
I mite do some baking too cgxCC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!0 -
No school closures for us today and tbh not that much snow. The kids are desperate for the schools to close again...I just want to get back to normal. We'll see what happens overnight but I don't think we're forecast to get that much snow.
Bought some b/day/Xmas pressies in the Boots sales today and some charity Xmas cards in the sale as well. I've quite a small stockpile of bits and bobs built up now.
I had a row with our local swimming pool over DS2 swimming lesson which they decided to move to a Monday without telling me!! Given I can only due Tuesdays which is my day off it was a bit rich. All sorted out eventually though.
I'm meant to be studying now but as you can see I'm easily distracted. I'm dreading to think what our heating bill is going to be next quarter. I'm so glad that I held out in October since it now feels as through the heating has been on all day every day since December (its hasn't quite but it feels like it).

No I got the cards in Cancer Research and Oxfam. All at half price. Mind you I've got far more than I need now since I've taken to sending a lot to local friends via ecards and making a charity donation.
