  • Quiet weekend but alas it was expensive.

I was taking OH's car to work on Friday (4x4 so very pratical in this weather) when he realised it had got a flat:mad:. OH wanted me to take it to a tyre place but I insisted on taking it to my local garage where they have plugged a puncture for me before. Agreed I would do this Saturday am however then the car wouldn't start!!!!! So the breakdown had to be called out which was duly done. Car then taken in and repaired.. I don't know how much it will be but prob about £40 which is a lot lot less than a brand new tyre. Of course the puncture was my fault as I had been the last one to drive the car :rotfl:

OH and I went out last night to a 'do'. Fairly pricey but good fun and worthwhile since we've not been out on our own for months. I don't want to think about where the money is coming from but of course I will as the week progresses.

Still snow everywhere but the temp does feel as though it has risen a degree or two and a slight melt is happening :D

Bad luck about the tyre, and of course it was your fault if you had it out last, that is how men think isn't it??

Glad you had a nice evening out, we have to enjoy ourselves at some point :)

I have seen our road for the first time in two weeks today and was most excited about it :j

  • OH did make me smile when he was blaming me!!! Why do they do that??

The roads not yet visible outside our house but providing we get no snow overnight it should be tomorrow. Mind you I took the hound out for a trot today and he nearly pulled me over, since the snow/ice was a little thawed it appeared slippier than ever. I managed to stay upright though.

  • Hellooo! Glad life is good in WH camp, well done on lots of things inlcuding incy wincy debt, holiday, mortgage, incy wincy debt, weather, night out and did I mention incy wincy debt ? :)

Life is good here, got my laptop back - I now realise my entire life is on this thing! Head is almost straightened out of things to do/pay, my to do lists have a satisfying amount of ticks against them and my spreadsheet is back in business!

Still got the snow boo, nightmare this morning black ice everywhere fortunately Ive not had to venture out cos both kids are off sick again double boo, don't you just love winter vomiting bug!

Anyway, so glad you are nearly at your DFW journeys end and about to commence on a new journey to being mortgage free! compingirl :)
CC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!
  • Thanks for the posts guys.

In control is how I would describe us at present. Still snow around, lots and lots of ice and very very cold. I'm going to brave a meter reading today when sufficient coffee has been drunk.

Seems a long time to payday at present but it will soon come around. I'm not sure we'll knock too much off the debt at the end of the month but at least we won't have run any more up. I know its a small amount compared to what we started with but we want it gone :p.

Sorry to hear your kids have been poorly CG, not good when combined with school closures and general stress of trying to get into work. Loving your 1/1 total by the way. When is your DF target date? HOw much did you pay off this year.

Gald to hear you are back on line. Our main PC is slowly dying so I have to resort to using DD's which I don't think she is delighted about but needs must. A new PC is on our list when DF, well a new hard drive, since everything else is OK.

Tesco shop due today, food budget is now exhausted so I will be budget juggling to get the fresh fruit and veg for the next couple of weeks. I never manage to have any money left in the food account at the end of the month. Last years spendinng diary shows I've budgeting correctly its just cashflow!!

    Stroll on warner weather

  • Productive day today:

Checked the breakdown cover that comes with our joint account and discovered that it now covers both cars. So no need to get extra cover :)

Closed my Halifax CC. The poor girl on the phone was trying to sell me a o% BT or to use the card on a regular basis. It did give me a nice warm glow to say no I don't need a BT and I don't need to use the card thanks very much please close it. Smug is how I was but then when I think of how much interest I've paid them over the years.....don't go there...its closed now!

Paid for OH's car tyre. Thankfully only £30 very pleased with that.

Seemed to write a chq book full of chq's out for various kids activies, camps, subs, etc etc. The start of term is always like this. All done though and money is in the pot to pay for them.

I need to organise childcare for the next couple of holidays and start to think about the summer hols. It really about annual leave planning at this stage rather than anything else but I do like to have an idea of where they are going.

Late run for DD tonight who is coming back from a school trip at 11pm!!! Way past my bedtime, lets home she's not late....

    Onwards to being DF ....
