  • Had a great day out with my boys.

Car went into the garage and came out again costing my £149.99. Which was just about what I had left in the account. Result. Therefore I've OH's insurance and my new front tyres to fund now out of next months £200 and probably borrowing from Decembers money as well.

The boys spent some pocket money in a toy shop. Then DS1 ventured into Games workshop for his first glimpse of D&D or whatever its called now. He came out with a model and an invite to a beg workshop on sat am. OH will be delighted as he was into that as a lad.

Bought a couple of Xmas pressies as well so all round quite relaxing.

Off to the Zoo tomorrow en famile (a rare treat so I had to get a few provisions on the way home for the picnic!). Looking forward to a relaxing day out.

Off to concoct a slightly less warm meal than last nights efforts (mind you it certainly helped to take the chill off the evening as the heating is still off). Just brought spending diary upto date :D

  • We had a really lovely time today. Because we're on half term and most of the rest of the country isn't Whipsnade where we went today was empty. We had such a nice time. Its not often we get to go together as a family, usually we're saving our holidays for childcare etc etc.

OH nearly fell over when he reaslised the price of entry and they when he understood the Mr T vouchers was covering the £70 for nothing he had a epiphany. And yes we were the saddo's who had a picnic in the middle of October in a zoo - how funny. We did fork out for a round of drinks - well a cuppa was needed! PH allowed the kids to spend in the shop, again I don't think he's realised how trying these shops are with kids, so the total spend was £25. I indulged and got them all a sew on badge for their guide/cub blankets (including DS2 who's not started yet!). It was such a nice family day out, we were making memories. It put everything into perspective again - lovely lovely lovely.

DS1 is in with DD now CG. OH found some of his books and his box of dice and his Mum told DS1 that we've got some stuff in the loft. OH has promised to go up into the lofts tomorrow to have a look. The toy soldiers that DS1 bought have now become a DD game in the middle of the lounge!! Lovely still its better than sitting in front of the various screens they/we all have.

Quiet day planned tomorrow with some free fun on the cards. Local park, library, cleaning conservatory and sorting out DS's clothes. I was contemplating the flicks with them whilst OH finishes tiling the bathroom (a gadget needs to be hired apparently) but this is really too much £ at this time in the month. I did wonder today whether I should use the childcare costs that I don't spend during the holidays for such days out but the childcare costs are parred down to the bone. I guess it won't be a problem next year since the 'entertainment' budget will be significantly increased:D

  • De lurking to say have you got any Nectar points as they can be used to pay for the cinema by just giving in your card at the paydesk?

And also what is a Guide blanket? I assume you mean the badges they gain at Guides but don't they get sewn on the uniform?
  • HI KM

We passed on the flicks today but I will remember that for next time. Guide Blanket is what is say but DD has sewn all her Brownie, Swimming, Judo badges on it plus she put my old Brownie and Guide badges on it as well. She takes it on camps and sleepovers etc. Used now whilst our heating is still off!

  • oh 'guide blanket' sounds lovely, we've still got a blankie and doggie tucked away from when mine were little and ive just found badge bear - which is where all the birthday badges ended up happy memories :) sounds like a fab day was had at the zoo and a highly enjoyable half term has been had by all.:) Hope mine is as enjoyable

Your warhammer figures might be collectable! Sounds like your OH has found something to take his mind off the car project!

It was my anniversary today 16 years! and OH and me have had a lovely day, weve done loads, swimming, pictures, meal out (a MS) and weve just been to the pub for a couple of hours whilst DS2 at Boys Briigade fab, fun pact day!

Roll on payday is what I say too! we've got £40 left till OH gets paid Wednesday! Kids won't be doing much this week! We are having a halloween party so i'm going to get them creative on their costumes! cgx

  • hello!

me too was thinking your OH's GW etc original stuff may be worth selling on ebay....my OH too was and still is a big WH fan. sometimes i can sell his 'stuff' for more than he paid for it (with his knowledge:rolleyes:). you have to do a bit of research, but i also buy stuff to sell as well, although just because its old doesn't always mean its worth something.....i often defer to OH re. values plus use ebay Advanced Search option.

glad you enjoyed your day out. will have to ask my mum if we kept my old guide camp blanket;).

    have a good weekend x
  • Thanks for the posts.

DS1 was disappointed to know that we don't have OH's DD/WH stuff in the loft - I didn't think we did! However its provided great ammo for his Xmas list - LOL

We're back to school on Monday so I'll watch you guys enjoying half term. I'm working all next week as well so it will be a long week. However it is payday week so that will definately be a positive.

I've had a good week off and felt like a few things have been achieved however I have been a bit worried/anxious and usually with me this focuses in on me personally (health usually). I've been reflecting on why i've felt like this and I think its a combo of things:

Getting DF in a realtively short while. I think that being in Debt and getting out of it has been one of my main focuses for the last couple of years. Suddenly, well not suddenly more gradually, losing that focus is a little scary.
Starting my OU studies next week . Again this is something I've wanted to do for ages, and I've studied before however this was before kids, life etc told hold. I am anxious about how I am going to cope with studying properly and keeping up with kids, family etc etc. I was thinking about this afternoon in a quiet period and I realised that this has caused me the biggest anxiety. Now that I've reaslised whats causing it I'm better able to cope but it clearly has been preying on my mind this week.

So now that I am clear I need to sort out this week:
    • Finances and totals for this monht
    • Car insurance for OH's car
    • 2 new tyres for my car
    • Xmas presents and get myself organised since my first assignment is due 17/12 and naturally the run up to Xmas with 3 kids is manic (now I am really understanding why I was/am anxious!!)
Sorry for the moan but I do feel better for having shared!!:o

Once you get started with the studying, you will soon find new routines which will work. In fact, you will soon find the extra three hours a day that have so far been hiding from you!

I studied from when DS was 6 months, to when he was 12......sometimes harder than others, but all workable with a bit of effort.

DD and I have guide blankets too :D
