Wow you've been ultra busy. Do you find Amazon sucessful then? Everytime I've looked at it I didn't think you could make much. Perhaps I wong? I've got stacks of books listing on green met but they go quite slowly. Maybe I need to look at Amazon again?
I was wavering earlier about setting ourselves the target to be DF by the end of the year. We might just have to accept that we're not going to be clear until Jan 2010. Its about balancing 'living' whilst still paying off £1400 each month. Given the pressures building over the next few months it would be nice to concentrate on:- OU studies which start next month
- Getting organised for Xmas:o
- Still generating as much extra income as possible (ebay, MSing, MBing)
- Decorating bathrooms
- Paying for cars - although on the walk to school today I did think that the over budget, whilst being paid from the DF this month, can be clawed back from the car fund in Dec/Jan if ncessary.
Good news as well tonight our conservatory roof is being replaced (insurance claim thankfully) next week weather permitting. Great fun: 3 kids on half term, dog and me on holiday - bring it on:DWorking Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -

Thanks for that L - I know Jan's not far away but I would have liked to have achieved it this year but thats the way it goes.
The good news is that we got a windfall today.....
.....the grand sum of £30 cashback from our home insurance policy bought back in July. I can't believe that I'd forgotten about it. I'd put the claim in July but clearly didn't pay enough attention to everything. I got £30 cashback from TCB as well on that which is a result all round. Cheque will be winging its way to the Debt fund tomorrow and totals are updated accordingly!Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -

I do OK on Amazon, I list on both sites and which ever sells 1st delete from the other. Its hit and miss really, but i'm just glad to be shut of the books and if I make £3 or £2 it all adds up in the end. The only thing with Amazon is the selling fees are high but you get a larger viewing audience so have more chance of selling. Ive sold other things like toys and jigsaws too but they have to be in vg condition.
Its hard to offer you support with your DF date because you've done so well and been ultra focussed and driven so it would be great for you to achieve your target in 2009. On the other hand (and ther always is one:) ) from my own approach (haha) slow and steady wins the race and have a nice time along the way! I know if I were in your shoes i'd be having a great xmas (in moderation of course and not throwing my DFW ways out the window!) and be thinking yay we will be DF next month, - which is probably why my DF date is so far away lol!sorry if thats not helpful. As I said, its personal choice and your choices have brought you such a long way in the last 2 years why change them now!
So with those wise words mate, I know ive talked myself in circles! I will bid you good night cgx
ps still not been able to enter MS resuts for GAP grrrrrrr bah humbugCC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!0 -
Thanks CG wise and sage words indeed and greatly appreciated.
I think I have accepted that we may not be DF offically until Jan 2010. It feels bad going into a new year but hey what I would have given 2 years ago to be going into a new year with less than £1k of debt. Well you can imagine I'd have had your hands, arms and legs off. I wonder though if I could still offically be DF in Debt if I have say less than a £1k on CC since our ultra ultra emergency fund is a little bit more than that. Technically I wouldn't be in debt......clever financial accounting?
Worth a thought?:rolleyes:Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
Clever accounting indeed! I like it! Sounds like a planCC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!0

Absolutely! And many people who pay off cc's in full each month would not consider themselves in debt and so you'll be doubly debt free by the new year! congratulations.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

Great glad there's a concencious. So plan is that we'll be DF at 31/12/09 if our o/s debt is less than our emergency fund at that point. No room for complacency though as the aforementioned plans might skupper the debt fund which still needs to be increased as much as possible.
I booked my car into the garage today for its service. I asked for an price and I was suprised when I was quoted £160. Somehow I expected much much more. That still means the OH's insurance and my tyres need to come out of the car pot but if I work on the basis that what is over budget will come out of the car fund in December.
Out tonight so thats a nice change....:cool:Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0
