Nice one on the expenses, 1st target under your belt and on to the next!

Do you think you will still do the MSing MBing Ebaying etc etc after your DF date comes and goes? I've pondered this thought, because where it is a pain at times it does generate some nice treats and cash in the bank :)
My DS1 is on the mend, appetite returning and not been sick today bu DS2 is running a high temp and looking very green! What joy, at least its the weekend and i've not got to juggle work!

Good news, my new washer arrived today :):):) and is now spinning quietly to itself in the utility room, OH got a cheque for £110 money owed him, i've had £50 back from Halifax for keeping house insurance with them and OH car insurance has finally paid on Quidco £55 so thats £215 to pay off debt
Bad news, car failed on MOT and cost £217!!!! -it is now booked in for a full service in 2 weeks which will be another £100+ any parts! Swings and roundabouts!

    Have a great weekend cgx

  • It certainly was good news and it helps with the mental shift towards the target.

I'm not sure what I'll continue doing DF. TBH I don't think that I will continue with the MSing until its something that I really fancy doing. However as you know if you don't constantly check you don't get the jobs so maybe it will come to a natural end!

MBing I quite enjoy and as you say it will add the nice little extra's in the pot. I'll probably continue but again it needs to motivation to get it done. I think that with my studies, work, kids, family and life I'll find it hard but you never know.

Good news on your extra dosh which has come in CG. Is that going towards the new machine or the debt?

Glad to hear DS2 is improving. Its rotten when they are poorly but good that he is on the mend.

I had a rare treat last night and i went out with some girl friends for a few beers. Great fun and not too expensive which was really nice. Busy weekend ahead so i'll crack on .......

  • haha neither! its paid for the car MOT! I guess my budgets are more 'fluid' than yours TBH at the mo they are more like a flooding river! Never mind, i'm making my dams as I type :)

You do right, once you are DF your time priorities will shift, and from the sound of it, you aren't going to have much free time at all :) I'm a fickle creature as ive said, I soon get bored and move on to the next thing, MSing just seems like a major hassle at the minute, i might check out the MBing site myself.

Kids are both on the mend so thats great and my lovely smashing new washer has earn't its keep already :) I'm even considering getting the curtains in there lol!

HTGDF I love it when my OH is away! Snore free for a week what heaven!

  • 3rd attempt at posting tonight

I like it when my OH is away occasionally, mind you its nice when he's back too :o

I may have to rethink how I spend the extra expenses money because:

We spent £94 on decorating stuff today: This is to re-decorate the main bathroom. The carpet in there is rank (3 kids have been toilet trained in this house :o) and is being replaced by ceramic tiles plus the usual bits that are needed to paint etc.

Car spending is looming very large: The car bills that are due from the car fund, which currently has £600 in it, in the next 6/8 weeks are:
    • OH's car being MOT - already estimated at £100 as car has been in to garage for this
    • OH's car tax - £215
    • My car tax - est at £150
    • OH's car insurance - est at £300
    • My car servicing - at main dealer to preserve warranty, cost ??
    • My car also needs 4 new tyres !!
Even basis maths shows that things are going to be very very tight.

So essentially I've got to keep £100 of the extra money back to cover what we've spent on decorating. However I also need to have a fund available to cover the car costs. Experience has taught me that if I don't cover these costs I will only run up more debt - I am slow learner:rolleyes:

So I will pay off the decorating costs and put the rest in the debt fund in case I need it with the cars!

Two steps forward and one back as usual

You've got some major car expenses there WH! I save £100 per month for cars but i've discovered its not enough - which is why my recent windfalls are going to pay for my MOT :) Well done on resisting the epenses temptation and putting it towards your shortfall, sounds like a plan to me! cgx

  • It certainly feels like a plan but we're so keen to have the debt cleared by the end of the year that its very tempting to throw it at the debts. I'm resisting though and with any luck we'll come in on budget !!

I think we are actually saving enough, £200 pm for insurance, tax, servicing, repairs, but my old car drained the fund pretty spectacularly earlier on this year hence the shortfall. Once the bills are all in I will revisit the budget from the spending diary and reassess.

OH in in decorating mode and doing great guns in the bathroom. Ceiling has had two coats, walls one so far (he bought far too much of the paint for the walls - not very DFW! - but I'm letting that go). All very nice and a change from debt busting.

I've cleared the garden furniture away into the shed - summer is definately over now but that doesn't mean the heating gets turned on. That gets held off until the last poss moment - we're DFW tight wads - LOL

  • Finally managed to sort out my problem bookie and I'm now able to withdraw the money :j. MBing is fund is now over the £300 mark which is fab. This is all going into the DF but it can sit in the bank account until I need to pay it off the debt. Since all our debt is 0% it's not costing us anything.
