Yes, think I'll hang on to it for now CB - I'll never win a lottery roll over so may as well do my own :rotfl: Think what's left will get split between savings, CC and now my caravan fund. We're talking the odd ice-cream, fish and chips and maybe a game of tennis at the park so I don't need loads for our trips away but like everything else I'm saving for, it'll be nice to have a little treat pot that things can come out of. Hubby pays for treats as well so it's pretty fair money wise.
  • Hi

Just wanted to pop in and say Hi. I have been reading your diary over the last few days and to say thank you as it has given me the inspiration I needed to start my own.

Mindless spending is my nemesis I have quite the career in shopping !! I needed to start tracking mine too and start saving (as well as pay my remaining debt) so after 11 years on the forum I have finally done it. You are doing great so thanks again for given me the push I needed.

Enjoy the rest of your day and I hope you have a great weekend x :)

Hello NoMoreCredit and welcome :) What a lovely thing to say that I've given you the inspiration to start your own diary. I've not been on here that long but I've had some great support and advice given about how to keep track of my money and don't repeat this, but I think I've stopped my money slipping through my fingers already ;) or at the very least I now know where it's slipping to

Good luck with your debt busting, saving and money tracking. One of the things that helps me is posting regularly. It looks more like a plan when I see it in black and white than some vague notion of what I'm supposed to be doing floating around in my head. :rotfl: I'll pop over to visit later on. Have a lovely evening. x

I didn't go out for the flowers, part of me couldn't be bothered, part of me decided I could definitely live without them in order to add another NSD to my tally ;) I'll pick some up tomorrow if I pop into the supermarket. I decided to do some baking instead and made a Victoria Sponge. Absolutely love homemade cake. :D

I was thinking today about how I've divided my spends into 4 weeks and how quickly a week can go. It feels like I've only just had my first lot of money and in just 2 days I'll be getting my next lot. So far I've spent just £2.50 :T

I've also started rounding down in the joint account every 2 or 3 days. All these little tips were suggested when I first started this diary and I've taken them all on board so thank you all very much :)

Thank you tea, I read your diary and knew I needed to do this :-) yes you are right about the tracking, that’s brilliant it’s made a difference for you I think it makes you think twice what you are buying, this it what my aim is too to stop my money disappearing and not knowing on what. Thanks again have a lovely weekend xx

NMC - it does make you think twice about buying things and also who/what you're buying for ;) I struggled to begin with because I felt mean keeping 'my' money, and us Mums are rubbish are putting ourselves first so it's quite hard to do but I've got there! It becomes less of a mean feeling and more of a mindful outlook - well for me anyway - I'm no expert :rotfl:

Wannabe - you are one remarkable lady. Any help and advice is given with genuine best wishes for you and your family, not least because I just know you'd do the same for somebody else. You're a total inspiration to people on here. x

Didn't check in this morning as we've been looking after a 2 year old today. It's a fairly regular occurrence but goodness me, I'm always taken by surprise at how much energy they have. Day time nap seems to have stopped lately as well, hardly time for a pee and a brew  All good fun though.

Right down to business. Day 5/31, 4 NSD, Prolific £13.31 cleared, £4.30 pending, £12.50 Xmas money, £27.50 cash for 1-7th Jan.

Had to go shopping but it was for food and not at a supermarket that sells flowers so I've not bought anything again today. Don't know whether to put a sad or happy face here - I do like my flowers :p

I really need to take a look at food next week. I'm out of routine with it being Christmas and also DD being home. I've done several top up shops and dread to think what's been spent in total over the past few days. Hubby never worrys about shopping though because he likes to have treats in the house and we don't eat out or have take-aways, but I think I could be on it a bit more than I am. I'd quite like to implement another meat free day but need something that looks hearty for the man of the house :D

Hope you've all had a lovely Saturday. x
  • Well done on the NSD's - this is one thing I struggle with, always have something I end up buying, was thinking tomottow could be one but then remembered both cars fuel lights are on so that won't work! I definitley want to try and do some though.

Re: brexit - I will be honest in saying that a lot of it goes over my head, but I tend to stock pile to some extent anyway as I always worry that if I don't have any money I won't be able to feed my kids, so always tend to pick up some extra tins etc for the cupboards and these build up. I have also started meal planning this week, told my girls that we are no longer haviing different meals and we all have the same every night, they are only 5 and 7 but this week they've had roast dinner, stir fry, sticky chicken with rice... its taking some getting used to but I am sticking to it - we got into the habit of having freezer tapas most nights and I would eat once they were in bed! I'm not doing it anymore Lol

hope you are having a good weekend!

  • Morning lovelies,

I've had an inspirational moment about 'my money' tea and I can hear your words swimming around. Hubby won £80 on his football bet (he normally puts £2 bet on fortune every week out his money) I said oooh that's lovely are you going to treat me to a curry and his reply was no, that should come out of joint food money. think of all the curries and kebabs I've bought out of my money when he's fancied one but we've not had the money. Well that stops now! He's a kind and loving bloke but I thought you b&gger! He never mentioned 'our' money when I was paying!
