    I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy

    Happy New Year Everybody _party_

    Day 1/31, 0 NSD's, £16.95 cash, Prolific £11.39 cleared, £3.20 pending, £12.50 Christmas money left to spend

So today is the first day of properly keeping a track of my money, building up some savings and paying a good chunk off the credit card.

I splurged on some bits yesterday for NY Eve which I paid for out of my money - just some nice cheese, crackers, pate, bread, etc. which means I'm starting January with £16.95 cash carried forward from December. I've decided to split it £6.95 into savings and £10 extra off the CC.

The monthly categories and budgets have been set:

    Savings £25
    Credit Card £40
    Dogs £25
    Christmas £10
    DS1 Savings £10
    Hairdressers £10
    Total: £120
Which Leaves: £120/4 = £30.00 per week to spend. Considering I'm more conscious of not buying household things out of my money this should be plenty for what I do/need. I'm even hoping to have some left over every month - but maybe I shouldn't get ahead of myself just yet

CC stands at £1,887 with £130 being paid off today - £120 standard plus £10 from December. The aim is to get this to £1k as quickly as possible and then ask hubby for a sub. I've also pinched a chart idea off dfwprincess to inspire me with the CC. I've drawn up 180 squares and for every £10 paid off I'm sticking a happy face sticker on the square. I have a load of these in a stationery box so might as well use them :rotfl: Today I stuck on 13 faces. I know there's interest to add on but I can't figure all that out so I'll just do this for now :D

Trees and decs are down. House needs a good going through and there seems to be a load of paperwork to sort through due to circumstances over Xmas, so we're going to do that today...... in between plenty of brews ;)

Hope you all have a lovely first day of the new year. :)

    Happy new year tea!

I think I'll pinch your idea too - love a visual chart showing progress. I'm aiming to clear £7500 of debt this year so think I'll do it in £100 per box. I can colour my first box in for our credit card repayment which I round up to £100.

Hi Choccygirl. I'm glad princess mentioned the chart - there's definitely something visually and psychologically pleasing about filling in/sticking/crossing off boxes, I definitely recommend it. That's a big chunk of debt you're wanting to clear but I have a good feeling you're going to crack it :)

I'm ending the first day of 2019 with a NSD - I've joined the NSD thread Beanie invited me to for extra inspiration and have committed myself to 15 days this month. I'm secretly hoping for a couple more but don't want to fail on my first month so went for a lower, more achievable number.

Hope you've all had a lovely New Year's Day. Lots of sorting and cleaning taken place here so feel like I've achieved something.
  • Now our visitors have all gone, I'm going to blitz the house the best I can. Hubby and children going pack away the secs at weekend.

I'm going to have a look on line for something to colour. I'm going to do 100 x £75 blocks so it pushes me to make more ops as the min is around £378 which is soooo annoying! I've paid off £400 so far but going to squeeze everything to try to hit £425.

Good luck of NSD I'm sure you'll smash them! We need bread so today will be a low spend.

Choccygirl, now we've added pretty charts to the debt busting equation I can just tell we're going to crack this :rotfl: I've been out today so spent a happy 10 minutes photographing receipts for the hog and I got 3 free spins. I've no idea why, I can't work out their system yet, but I can see how addictive on line gambling could become :o

Day 2/31, 1 NSD, Prolific £11.39 cleared, £3.20 pending - where have all the surveys gone, I've been stuck at this amount for ages  £12.50 Christmas money left to spend

It hasn't been a NSD day today. I went into town for a few bits and bought myself a bag of epsom salts and some pens. Total spend £2.50. Apart from that all other spends were household which came to £3.99. It reminded me that normally I'd pay for this sort of shop out of my money, possibly 2 or 3 times a week which all added up. I feel allocating money from the joint account for these things is the right way to go as having an actual pot means I can keep an eye on what gets spent from here as well.

DS didn't like the slippers I bought him for Christmas, they weren't soft enough :rotfl: We've been ribbing him that he must be an extra snowy snowflake with delicate skin :D I was supposed to take them back today and ask for a credit note but forgot, so I need to remember to do that sooner rather than later.

Hope you've all have a lovely day :)

Oops forgot the most important part - my weekly spend calculations.

    £30 - £2.50 = £27.50 left to spend.

Well done on the extra of the credit card and to the savings

It is definitely the answer to all debt problems Wannabe and quite possibly world peace :D The big debate is will you colour in, use stickers or just cross off. Choices, choices. :rotfl:
