Day 29/31, Prolific £2.95 cleared, £6.01 pending, Spends £13.86
DD asked me to check her temperature today. There's nothing wrong with her she just fancied knowing what it was! But it reminded me I don't have a thermometer so I've been on line and bought one. I tried to order one in March convinced we'd all have the virus in a matter of days, but there were none to be had and my weekly stock check soon fell by the wayside. I had an ear thermometer when the DC's were little and it was brilliant so I've gone for that and a box of ear caps which took me over £25 so I got free delivery.
We've had a plasterer round to quote for doing our bedroom and the price was nowhere near what hubby expected so we've booked him to do the job. We've had him before and he did a cracking job with a ceiling that dipped slightly in the middle so I don't need to stress about what the finished job will be like which is nice. I'm going to start stripping the paper this week. My offer to put towards the cost has been declined but we need a new bed so I'll definitely use some money for that.
August seems to have been never ending but just 2 days now until I can bump the pots up again. I've also cleared a shelf in the wardrobe for some tins etc. What with Covid, Brexit and Winter in general I want to make sure I've some bits in, just in case. I always have a few extras in but I've actually made a list and will be more disciplined in what I do and don't buy for the next few weeks until I've got what we need. I'm not going into full prepper mode, it'll just be a couple of weeks worth of things.
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend. xx

Hi LABMUM
Yes, I'm looking forward to having a new bedroom, it probably won't really look much different, but it will feel more modern and fresher.
I'm just going to buy the every day things we use like beans, tomatoes, soups, tuna, rice, pasta, noodles, sauces, condiments, cereals, sugar, tea, biscuits, fruit. Oh and SPAM for hubby - yuk lol. I'll also stock up on a couple of toiletry items. At the start of Covid there were some things I couldn't find in the supermarket and it was a couple of weeks before they were in stock so it's just a case of being able to 'shop' from my own cupboard until the stores can replenish the shelves. I love reading the OS prepping thread but I have to limit what I take on board and keep it simple for myself. My mantra is 'Don't Panic Mr Mannering'xx

Day 1/30, Prolific £2.95 cleared, £6.46 outstanding, Spends Week 1 £40.11 - an odd number but it's right for this week
Shoppix: 1095/3200, RH: 805/1500
There was £13.86 left in my purse this week so I've split that £5 each to Birthdays and Christmas and I've added the odd £3.86 onto my spends.
All pots have had their usual boost apart from the dog pot. There's already enough in there to cover this month's groom.
Savings: £194
DS Savings: £90
Dog: £40
Hair: £20
Birthdays: £51
Christmas: £190
Paypal: £59.82
I've sorted the food cupboard out this morning. I've already got quite a few tins so I've been able to thin the cupboard out and move some things into the 'stock cupboard'. This week I'll be adding teabags, a packet of digestives and a bottle of bleach to stocks. As long as I can have a brew, dunk a biscuit and keep the house clean I'm halfway there
DS has been for his back to school hair cut. He had to go to a different barber and honestly it's not much better than last time, plus it cost more at £10He's only in for one lesson this week so they can run through the new set up with them. I thought I'd feel more worried than I do about him returning but he says he wants to go back and I don't think school could put more in place than they have done. I was relieved when they closed schools but returning definitely seems the right thing to do now. Whatever the new normal is, I don't want him sitting at home every day doing nothing to be it.
I've made a start on the wallpaper. It's not that easy to get off so I'm thankful it's not a huge room and one wall is taken up with fitted wardrobes.
Hope you're all having a good day. xx

Day 2/30, Spends £35.93
Popped to Mr T today and treated myself to some flowers. They had the Christmas chocolate tubs in reduced to £3.50 so hubby picked up 4 of them. We don't eat anywhere near as much sweet stuff as we used to but even so I doubt they'll last until December.
The digital thermometer arrived and I've taken everybody's temperature. I'm pleased to report we are all fit and well.
We're off to Ikea tonight for some storage boxes for the bedroom. I just want plain white ones, shoe box size, to fit on top of the wardrobes. Then I can sort out some things in the wardrobe that we need to keep but don't need access to regularly which will free up some much needed space in there. I'll buy those out of my spends.
Weather is miserable today and cold. I considered putting the heating on but hubby was around and I only get away with that if there's washing to dry lol. Hope you've all had a good day. xx

I'll try Beanie. I'm not overly keen on the store, I always moan that once you get on the one way system you can't get off, but that's pretty standard in shops at the moment so I can't complain lol. xx1

Evening
Day 6/30, Prolific £6.68 cleared, £3.13 pending, Spends £15.93
The trip to Ikea was successful and I bought 5 boxes. I'd got my eye on plain white ones at £1.50 each but they were too deep to get over the trim at the top of the wardrobes so I splurged and picked up some for £4 each instead. They'll be really useful though so money well spent.
The plasterer comes tomorrow and Tuesday, so after he's gone I'm going to have a really good sort out. There's not much to throw away it's just a case or re-organising and making some space. Once the plaster has dried we'll paint the walls ourselves, so it should be done by next year lol. I'm also having new skirting boards and have gone for a wood look PVC which means no more painting. I'm sure my knees and back will be grateful for my foresight. We also need to start looking for a new bed. This is definitely divorce material although we did promise each other a few years ago we'd always stay together because neither of us wants the other to be happy on their own.
DS's induction day went well, although mid morning break appears to have been done away with so the only socialising they'll get to do is at lunchtime. As far as possible they will stay in the same classroom and the teachers will do the moving around. I suppose all we can do is see how it goes.
Weather is nice here, the doors and windows are open and I've got a load of towels on the line. Have a lovely Sunday. xx
