Morning
Day 17/31, Prolific £12.46, 18p outstanding, Spends £32
Had a text through first thing this morning to say DS wasn't to attend school today due to staff shortages. The word 'today' was highlighted so for the moment it seems a fluid situation but I think that's bound to change over the next few weeks.
I'm in an at risk category with the old ticker so I've decided to follow the route of staying in unless I have to go out, which is pretty much what I do anyway. Today that means a bit of shopping and the dentist, followed by a good hand wash
Money wise there will be a little bit of spending today, I need some face powder and although there's only £1 in the charity pot I'll buy a couple of bits for the shoe boxes. Surveys are pinging up a bit more regularly but quite often there's only one place available and of course I never get it. I wonder in the coming weeks if C-19 surveys will replace the numerous Brexit surveys of last year.
Hope you're all keeping well. Have a good day. xx

So an hour after the first text from school we had another stating that all KS3 pupils are to remain at home until further notice. But they were told to check the school's homework website and do the work set. Blimey! From the amount they've sent it looks like they're not going to be open until this time next year.
DS is not pleased! Every subject has been covered and the work set is obviously not a last minute thought and is quite in depth so I'm thinking they've been preparing for this for a while.
Everything was OK at the dentist so that's that done and dusted with for another 6 months. Shopping was interesting. I have a weekly delivery but go out for the fresh bits and meat because I prefer to choose those myself. This morning Mr T had knocked at least a dozen items off my order including potatoes and eggs.
So I was on the hunt for a little bit more than usual. The shelves are definitely not as well stocked as they were and there were no potatoes or eggs to be had, but the queues weren't much different than usual and trolley's weren't piled high with stuff. I was chatting to one of the staff in Ice&&&d and she said people are being so rude to them as if it's their fault things aren't in stock. In fact, while I was there one old lady was saying out loud, "they're not putting anything out because they're keeping it for themselves". To be honest, if they were I wouldn't blame them. They're working harder than usual, putting up with horrible comments and don't have the option of deciding whether they should stay home or not. Aside from that, driving home with the radio on and the sun shining you'd think all was perfectly normal in the world.
I need to sort my money out now and upload the receipts to Shoppix and RH but first a cup of tea. xx3 -
My school is still open but we only have two teachers and two TAs off at the moment. We do have about 5-6 children away in each class but that makes our job easier if anything
. We are making the children wash their hands more frequently from today so there are long lines of children up and down the corridors!
I expect DS will get very bored and restless at home as they have so much energy at that age! How is DD getting on? Is her uni still open? My son's uni has suspended face to face lectures and seminars but he doesn't want to come home until the usual time as he says he has work to hand in.
I couldn't believe the empty shelves in the two shops I went in today! I've never seen anything like it 😱.
Stay safe TF2

That's the thing with hand washing in schools isn't it. If there are 6 sinks in the boys and girl's toilets it's as much. Unless you're a small village school I'd say most schools have at least 7 classes of 30 pupils who all have to wash their hands for 20 seconds. I don't know what the maths of that would be but it sounds like it could take a long time, especially if they're doing it several times a day
Oh I don't know about DS getting bored at home, he can get through the summer holidays no trouble lol. He's got so much work to do though I'm not sure he'll get chance to be bored. DD's uni is closed but she's chosen to stay at the house because she says she gets more work done there than when she's home and of course she has work. Although some of her shifts have been cancelled because hardly anybody is going in at the moment.
It's all very surreal isn't it. You read the papers, listen to the news and think the world is ending, yet when I went out today people were just going about their business as they usually do. No air of panic or silly queues or over filled trolleys - unless I've missed that part lol.
Hope you all stay well. xx1 -
Luckily we have toilets in the playground and two sets indoors, but it was a bit of a time consuming process!
I thought things seemed business as normal today apart from the hand washing at school and the empty shelves in the supermarket. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
