    Evening :)

Day 26/30, Prolific £0, Spends £20 and a few pence

Just thinking about what we’ve spent above and beyond the usual bills this month and it’s quite a lot. The main culprit is birthdays which come from the joint account when they crop up, but I’ve decided to attach a savings pot to my bank account to cover them in future. May as well start now so I’ve got a whole year to save up for the worst month.

DD is picking the keys up tomorrow for the house then moving in on Friday. So, just 5 days of being home :( We've been through all her things and she’s not actually got that much, it’s just her general untidiness that makes it look worse than it is.:rotfl:

Her moving to a new house ‘treat’ has been new bedding - duvet, pillows, sheets and quilt set - which is why the spends have gone down. I had an ArgOs card but put to out of my spends. She likes her bed so it’s money well spent ;) We're also taking her shopping tomorrow so she can stock her cupboards up again.

I’m really looking forward to the new month starting so I can get my money sorted out. It’s felt like a really itty bitty month for some reason and we seem to have been handing money over for something every few days. I'm ready for a quiet few weeks so I can get back on track with everything.

Hope you've all had a lovely day. xx

  • DH has signed the guarantor agreement for DS3's tenancy  but we need to take out the guarantor insurance when his tenancy actually begins.

It's sad when DC move out but it comes to us all in the end :(. At least she's only a short drive away so you can visit easily. I'm not expecting DS3 to want to live at home for long when he finishes at un. I hate not seeing him for ten weeks at a time in the term time :(.

The bedding is a lovely houswarming present for DD :)

I don't spend a lot on duvets because we have the dogs and accidents occasionally happen, so I just buy the basic range. I change pillows quite often and duvets once every 12 months. It's just a thing I have :o

She's written a shopping list which isn't too bad but I am considering leaving her at home and going by myself. She has a tendency to throw extras in when I'm paying  xx

I'm a bit sad HHD, as I thought she'd be here at least a couple of weeks but she's tasted the freedom that independence brings so it's not really a surprise ;) I don't feel too sad tbh as we do see her fairly regularly. We're off out for lunch and to the theatre next weekend :D

I thought the bedding was a sensible moving in gift - I sound like my Mum now :rotfl:

It does feel odd signing to be a guarantor doesn't it, but the insurance you're taking out will hopefully make you feel less stressed about it all. xx

    Morning Everybody :)

    Day 28/30, Prolific 82p cleared, Spends £4.90

Busy morning for us as we're moving DD into the house. The car was loaded last night so it’s just a case of setting off after rush hour and helping her to get set up. It shouldn’t take too long and I’m hoping to be home early afternoon.

We took her shopping last night and fed up of dipping into the joint account this month me and hubby went 50/50 out of our spends so I've nothing to put in the pots again :( I’m definitely ready for the new month to start, I really feel the need to buckle down and get on top of all things financial and household before the school holidays arrive.

Right, best get a wiggle on and make a move. The house is going to feel really empty when she’s gone but at least it’ll be tidy. :D

Hope you all have a great day. xx

hope DD move goes well. It must be really odd helping her move out. I'm dreading it with my two already. Will she far from you?

You'll soon be potting in a day or two. X

Hi CG :) No she's not that far, about a 30 minute drive. We set off at 9.30 and by 10.30 the car was unloaded. We had a brew and sat chatting to her and one of her flatmates while she put all her kitchen stuff away/sorted her food out etc. After that I helped her make the bed and that was us pretty much done. We were back for just gone 12.

I'll miss her but I'm not bothered about leaving her this time. The first year felt really odd, wondering if she'd be OK and if she'd make friends etc. But this time I don't need to fret about that side of things.

I've had a quick tidy around downstairs and I'm just going to have 5 minutes before I go upstairs. I'm not cleaning, just putting things where they should be so that on Monday I can get down to it properly.

Hope you're enjoying the weather. It's gorgeous here today. xx
  • I'm glad DD has settled well into her new accomodation :). It's nice having them at home but you want them to be happy. I'm jealous that she's only half an hour away, as DS3 will be six hours away in September :(.

I hope your pots grow quickly again next month. I think surveys seem a bit quiet at the moment.

We have a very empty nest now. DD1 went off to Uni, came back after 3 years and persuaded DD2 to move out with her. They were gone a year, came back for 6 months to save up and then both brought their own flats within 4 months of each other.

So glad to see them settled but I wasn't quite ready to let go.

We're just about to move into a smaller property now we know they won't be coming back so time to make some new memories on the next bit of our journey but I do miss them daily (but not the mess or bickering) :)

Thanks HHD :) It's really does make things easier having her close by. I can't even begin to imagine how tiring it must be travelling 6 hours each way on top of doing whatever needs to be done at either end.

I'm on a mission with the pots next month. I'm targeting the TARGET pot and hoping to get it crossed off my list. Just working out how to do it. :D Hope you've had a lovely day at school. xx

Hi Pooky, Mum suffered from empty nest syndrome when 3 of us moved out within about 18 months of each other. She didn't know what to do with herself. :o Love that older DD encouraged DD2 to move in with her, bet they had a great time and got up to all sorts. They've both done really well to get on the property market, it's so hard for them these days.

I miss DD, but like you with yours, not the mess that comes with her :rotfl: xx
