With those on your files, the average age and no settled accounts advice can be ignored.

Can anyone advise on what CRA’S the eligibility checker sites use? Because all them state that I’m not eligible for any balance transfer cards. If they use all three then that’s understandable because the default still shows on Equifax

Having said that I did an eligibility check through the Experian site and that’s the same no eligibility and the default has gone from Experian apparently.

  • As above.

You still need to wait - it’s not an instant fix just because it’s removed

    Wait for what?
  • I use the Clearscore one, that uses Equifax and generally has the best shot at pre-approved in my experience.

Noddle seems to use Equifax or Call Credit depending on what mood it's in - actual searches will be done on whatever CRA the company use though.

Benefit is if you're pre-approved with one CRA unless the search at another CRA is awful (when they will revoke the pre-approved) it's less likely to be overturned.

I had a while where Cap1 Experian was showing me pre-approved, but their website (Equifax) and Clearscore (Equifax) were showing low %, so I applied through the Experian matched cards.

Likely your Equifax will drop tomorrow - my accounts seem to come off the day after. Don't try it too early in the morning though - try like 8/9am tomorrow or later to see if it's gone, if it has use Clearscore 'offers' and hopefully you'll have something on there.

Just to set your expectations, in my opinion if you were going to get something, you'd have had it already - a 5+ year old settled default is fairly minor. No settled accounts will be an issue, and the accounts you've got have high debt on them.

Other factors like credit utilisation will come into play too - a BT doesn't automatically mean it'll go down, some people use it as a way to double their debt, so you may still struggle.

Who do you bank with? If it's Lloyds/Halifax wait until 22nd when their internal scoring should have updated and try an eligibility check on their own websites then.

When you say there is nothing, do you mean nothing at all or nothing decent?

Eligibility checks on the credit providers site will be better than the combined ones - although they obviously take longer to fill in.

Once your Equifax default has been removed (double check the date, if it's 1/1/13 it should be gone tomorrow otherwise message them) I'd try the following sites directly (if you have time) after you've checked Clearscore offers

    - Barclaycard (non-initial search, e.g. the 'prime' cards)
    - MBNA
    - Your own bank if they offer a pre-check (Unless Halifax/Lloyds, then wait til 22nd)
    - Fluid Card (Newday, so sub-prime) - 9 months 0% for 4% fee, not brilliant but will save you *some* money while you build your history

Could give the top Capital One BT card a shot - it's for 'good history' but from a sub-prime provider so more accomodating than the big banks - 12 months 0%, 2.9% fee - https://www.capitalone.co.uk/creditcards/balance-transfer-credit-cards.jsf
  • Wait for things to settle.

Just because the default is gone doesn’t mean your instantly approved for everything.

    Stop rushing and just wait

Your marbles card is the key thing reducing your chances of further credit. You're maxed out and struggling to clear a relatively small balance so lenders are wary of giving you further credit.

If you ever get offered another BT deal, always transfer whatever you can. Don't ignore it just because it's not enough for the full amount.

Gary without being impolite if you can’t post useful information could you please refrain from posting please?

I’ve waited 6 years for a £43 default to be remove that was issued by o2 that I didn’t believe I was liable to pay because of loss of service in my area. It absolutely ruined my credit worthiness for 6 years.

If you actually read my post within this thread you’d see me saying on more than one occasion that I’m not expecting to be offered the best deals on the market.

I don’t understand what your suggesting I wait for? Once the default is removed it’s removed that’s it.

Thank you for your input so far but please don’t comment again.

    Thank you

Yea I thought that might be the issue,

I just think imagine if I was paying £150 a month ( and any extra I could afford) off a 0% card it would be cleared in no time.

And just to add I will be closing the marbles card once it’s balnce it’s 0

No one needs a £2950 limit at 49.9%
