We've made sure the candles, matches and torches are to hand ready for tomorrow. We have a gas hob but an electric oven so I've changed my meal plan so tonight we are having macaroni cheese and we'll have chilli tomorrow just in case the electric goes off.
Our boiler is gas but of course needs electricity too so we'll just have to huddle under blankets if necessary .
DD2 is just on the edge of the red zone but she does have a wood burner and their house is fairly sheltered. DD1 is all electric so they'll have to rely on the camp stove -not ideal with two small children.
Keep safe everyone.16 -
I've just been round the house putting candles in the holders in preparation. Torches were to hand as lights flickered last night so went to the drawer and got those out. I have also prepared the gammon joint we would be having later in the week, so we can have that cold if needed. Wheelie bins tucked safely away in the garageMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

We have out bins laid down already. If they shift it can't be that far, unless they lift as well. Tealights & candles next step, as boys already have their kit on charge...10

We are firmly in the red zone, and daughter's school is now closed tomorrow because of it. So she has gone off to Nana's early and doing a 2 night sleepover, rather than just the one. So, she is happy, and we are less worried as it means MIL and StepFIL don't have to travel in it tomorrow to get her from school.
We, however, still have to head into Bristol for DHs op (appt time is 10.20, so we will be travelling at the peak of the storm).
I secured garden at lunchtime. Hope everything else is OK, just have to wait and see now.February wins: Theatre tickets13 -
DH just had a call to say that op is postponed. The doctor is apparently not risking travelling in, so all the planned ops are getting postponed. So, no travel during the peak time. Phew!

Awh that's a shame euronorris, but at same time less to worry about xx

Yeah, they said they will call again on Monday to reschedule. It's a bit of a relief to be honest as we would have needed to travel during the peak of the high winds. And then it was like 'do we go on the motorway which is more exposed to wind gusts? Or do we go the back route, which is much more likely to have fallen trees etc?'. So we're glad we don't have to worry about it now.
On the plus side, DD is already at Nana's (living her best life and being spoilt rotten), and we get a child free day to ourselves. Just hoping for no damage or flooding, and for the electric etc to stay on now 🤞🤞🤞February wins: Theatre tickets12 -
I'm south of the red warning, but due to travel to Torquay, which means running across the high West Dorset hills, by the sea, in a van... we should be travelling after the worst has passed (afternoon) so I'm crossing my fingers that that is indeed the case!

Take it easy @thriftwizard and maybe travel later if needs be. If you're going to a holiday site, check they are still accepting new holidaymakers tomorrow. I've just seen that Butlins Minehead have pushed back the arrivals due tomorrow by a day, due to the storm.February wins: Theatre tickets8
