We're in the red zone/slightly on the edge, our lights also flickered lastnight so rounded up the torches yesterday and have some big candles in lanterns if need be. I've just put the dishwasher on so that's all clean for tomorrow, phones are on charge, I'm going to have a shower now and wash/dry my hair tonight rather than tomorrow other than that, that's us semi ready. All of the local schools are closed tomorrow so pj's day for the kids, just DH at work will be the concern now.10

A tip for anyone concerned about freezers - turn them up to maximum freezing now. They'll cool down overnight then they'll take longer to defrost. We're set up with emergency lights charged up, battery packs charged up, etc. Fingers crossed we'll all be fine.10

We woke up at 4 a.m. as the wind was so loud .We are not supposed to get the worst of it until lunchtime. Our bedroom has a dormer window so that probably didn't help.
Got up and made tea and checked news only to find we are now in a red zone. We moved into the bedroom on the first floor and got a little bit more sleep but feel as if could do with much more. I was very glad I keep the spare bed made up. One of us sometimes sleeps in there if the other has a cough.
Have filled the water bottles and removed food from the freezer. Phones, kindle and tablet are charged. The recycling bin has blown over but it is empty so I'm going to leave it like that.
We've only been in this house for three weeks but fortunately had started building up the food stocks already so don't need to go out.16 -
It's definitely getting blustery here in London. I've already seen one wheelie bin blowing down the street (mine are laying flat as they were emptied yesterday). I've taken down the bird feeders in the garden and popped plant pots in sheltered spaces. I've double checked torches, my little wind up radio is working too, and phone and power banks are charged up. We've also got a simple supper that just needs hobs to heat it so that's fine too.

How is everyone doing with the wind? Our casualties gave been limited to a 3" por of bulbs and a panel from the greenhouse. Next door's greenhouse is now on the other side of their fence.I wonder if much renewable energy has been generated today? 😂12

We've been fine here. Got very, very windy earlier, but as far as I know the roof is still in tact. Power stayed on also. Lots of trees down locally, and some building damage in various places, meaning several road closures.
My MIL has lost 2 fence panels (they were very old ones though, so not surprising).
One of my brother's in Kent had a power cut for several hours, and mobile signal was also down. Both back now, but intermittent.
We've just had a very quiet day here really, watching TV, cutting fabric, threading my overlocker etc.February wins: Theatre tickets10 -
Mum's had a power cut since 6pm. (Rural Berkshire.) I don't expect it to be fixed until tomorrow. She's still not got the gas fire I advised her to get when this happened a few months ago. (She is afraid of going to the shop.

Wind generation has stayed roughly between 10gw/h-14gw/h for the last 24hrs, the percentage of overall grid generation will change due to demand, so higher percentage when demand is low ie early hours , & lower percentage 5-7pm when demand is high.
