I've just learned from an acquaintance who's recently retired from PowerGen that if the UK does away with petrol/diesel cars and replaces gas boilers with heat pumps as planned, we'll need around 30 nuclear power stations to meet the demand. We currently have 8.
Then there's the question of how much it'll cost and how long it'll take to upgrade the National Grid so it can cope with the load ...We're all doomed14 -

Thanks @MrsCD we are travelling to Bristol that day as DH has a small eye op planned. Not great timing on the storms part! At least we know we will need to avoid the clifton suspension bridge in advance, as it will no doubt be closed due to the wind.February wins: Theatre tickets8

The neighbours (empty) recycling boxes flew past our front door just after 5pm last night, and knocked the casing off of our broadband connections stuff lol. Thankfully its simply clicked back on, and neighbours have secured their bins, as worse to come for us tomorrow. Does look funny on our doorbell camera though 🤣 I am supposed to put empty milk bottles out tonight for milkman to collect, but am inclined not to, as I fear they will just get blown around, and smashed to smithereens.February wins: Theatre tickets9

Our garden's littered with broken slates and some big heavy chunks off the ridge along the top but at least the elect stayed on.

Met office have upgraded storn Eunice to red for south west , looking quite dangerous now. We're in the midlands but still looking like the worst storm for many years to hit us, been out in the garden & around the house to prepare as much as we can ,keeping everything crossed & hoping for the best. Won't be putting the bins out for collection either as we may never see them again.Good luck to all.8
