Hope you're ok @daz378. Make sure your vit d, vit c and zinc levels are good and you should hopefully be fine in a few days.
DD tested positive last Friday, had it confirmed with pcr test, then a few days of runny nose and headaches, a bit of a cough and sore throat, but her lateral flow test is negative today, so we're hoping she's going to be clear to go out soon.2025 Fashion on the ration

Over Christmas I felt more unwell than usual - wiped out with the headache from hell, chills and loose bowels. Made valiant attempt to eat Christmas dinner and threw it all up in the evening. Being immunocompromised I've been given an emergency PCR kit and fast track access to anti virals. Don't think it's been Covid but you never know. With Omicron, many don't have typical symptoms. I did 3 negative LFTs. But I've known people have 3 or 4 negatives before a positive.I think however the likely suspect is some frozen pretend (plant based) prawn tempura eaten on Christmas Eve. It was quite greasy and I ate more than I should.
Or I could have picked up something from some raw meat. Today I feel almost normal (for me) so not posting a PCR.
I don't think the new variant is too much to worry about for most people. But some in my online support group have had some nasty brushes with covid and several have died since the start of it.So for some of us, even the 'mild' version isn't to be sneezed at (sorry).Happy Christmas everyone!10 -
Oh dear, @pineapple, hope you're feeling better now. Hopefully it was the food and nothing else.
The symptoms of covid are so varied you just don't know whether you have it or not! DD is a lot better now, but the headaches were really awful. She's still worn out by mid afternoon. My dad had a letter saying he would receive a pcr test in case he got symptoms, as he was classed as cev but it still hasn't arrived yet.2025 Fashion on the ration

Thriftygifty said:Hopefully I always found her posts really interesting and definitely learnt some prepping things. Has anyone heard from Elaine? I haven't seen any posts recently, I am not in here much either RL has taken over with one thing or another.
I am hoping 2022 will mean I get back to growing veg, enjoying my horse, the countryside and prepping. I have built up a good sized pantry that is all dated and mainly used in rotation. I need to go through other preps to see what needs organising and any holes that need plugging. I am aiming to grow as much fruit and veg as I can this year, last season was total failure due to the miserable family life.
One very interesting community project I have got involved with is the local food waste project that aims to reduce the amount of food wasted at supermarkets by collecting it and distributing it to the local community. It is not the shelf stable food bank sorts of items on the whole but perishable items such as fruit, veg, bread, pastries, coleslaw, dips, salads, occasionally meat/cheese and flowers. You would not believe the huge amounts of perfectly good food that are collected as they have a best before date on them or a use by. The use by items go in blue crates marked for animal consumption as they are one day out of date. Needless to say quite a few people dip into these. This project is open to anyone who wants to collect food and there is an optional donation towards the petrol for the volunteer collectors. Today I popped in to help unload and the place was awash with carrots, parsnips, potatoes, sprouts, salad and more bread/bakery items than I have ever seen. The bread that was a day older is packed into bags and gets fed to pets/livestock. We are not able to feed this as we farm commercially and receive government subsidies. Our sheep and cattle go into the food chain so we can only feed "proper" animal feeds not waste foods. Several small holders collect the waste food for their livestock. I collect salad bags, fresh noodles etc for my hens as they love them. The "shop" is based in the village hall and open every day. The donations are via an app the group registers with ( cant remember the name!) . Some how we have become an official community group, with constitution and soon a bank account, I am the treasurer, for my sins!
