So ... three days since the last post, and that's been three days of increasingly pessimistic forecasts about what we're in for in the coming weeks.
Everybody as ready as they can be for whatever lies ahead? We're all doomed12 -

Everybody as ready as they can be for whatever lies ahead?Hope I am, but every day's a prepping day I think, and probably will continue to be, as we move through it.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”15 -
What ever happens will happen, there's food in the house, there's logs in the store, we've cancelled some Xmas plans in favour of others (sadly) but older members of the family might not be here next Christmas so they take priority this year.I've got a roof over my head and even if we can't leave for 10/15/20/25/30 days we'll cope.....we've got jigsaws and puzzle books, crafts and hobbies, there's always something to do (loft boards are waiting patiently to get installed) and if all else fails I can start digging my new greenhouse base (greenhouse via freecycle).17

Everybody as ready as they can be for whatever lies ahead?Sorted for this winter unless covid throws up something much worse than last winter. As big energy price increases are coming our way in spring i've started looking for the last few electricity wasting items , so far have managed to cut annual Kilowatt usage by almost 800kw pro rata since Sept , down from 2300kw/yr to 1500kw/yr , we're electric only ( & 1 log burner, 3 bed terrace) but don't feel as though we've had to give anything up , weird.Got a couple of mature apple trees to fell next month which should cover a fair chunk of heating for winter 2023/24 so looking well ahead as winter 2022/23 is pretty much sorted.

As ready as we're going to be, @Si_Clist.
Like Jellytotts said, we've food in the house etc. so whatever is on the way, we'll cope. We don't have a lot of close family so it's usually a quiet affair anyhow. Dr Campbell on YouTube said that the peak of this time around will be after Christmas into the new year, and that's when lorry drivers et al might have to isolate, possibly delaying deliveries to shops, but I'm sure our preps will be fine.2025 Fashion on the ration

I've used the last of the long life milk so need to try and pick up some more no sign on nido anywhere in my area and my granddaughter works in supermarket there website says they sell it but none to be seen
After readig about power cut I've double checked for lighter and matches to light a candle or 2 but would be a last resort or for a warm drink as the dog cannot be trusted I do have those lights witch light ups however need to get extra batteries as my normal go to would be rechargeable ones
Dog ok for food might get a new bone or 2 the ones from home b £2 nylar bone I think it said on the card bone shape or round hoop they are the only thing he can't t destroy in 5mins they last him months haven't had to replace the round hoop one yet they all have to be at the bottom of my bed at night or I get no peace and he pulls the quilt of f me till I help him find them. He can't get under the bed to get them cos that's where a lot of preps are freezer full and it only me and the dog just the fridge to fill and a few presents left to pick up
My eldest has suggested we all do a LFT before visiing he husbands parents both high risk and if everyone is negative then I go down to them when they get back I think it a sensible idea she currently o extra meds for asthma flare due to the damp and foggy morning recently just hope she can get to Friday OK granddaughter who had covid last summer still can't taste or smell anything and the virus has affected the catteracts she was born with so may need laser surgery in the new year

How about you, Si Clist?
After that, AFAIK the only other outstanding job now is to change the water in the 6 x 10L containers that we last filled in June. The other 6 aren't due for changing until April. Must admit though we're a bit lax about the water: we try to use the "old" water for rinsing hand washing rather than just let it down the drain, but truth is we don't do much hand washing nowadays and it's a bit of a chore heaving the full containers about. But we're frugal so needs must ...
Everything else we're as on top of as we can be, and that's assuming that it all goes pear-shaped soon after our Tesco delivery next Tuesday. Having said that, though, it'll be interesting to find out in due course what it was that we needed but hadn't thought of.
Actually most of what's left of the brain is concentrating on energy usage now, seeing as how we come off 2 years of fixed price tariffs on Wednesday next. We got tired of trying to work out whether to go on to OVO's "loyal customer" (hah!) one year fixed contract or default to variable, so decided to do as Mr Lewis says. Now if that turns out to have been the wrong decision we can blame him rather than each other.
Otherwise, all good here considering - and only 4 more days to the Solstice. We don't do Christmas, so that's when we get to eat that half of the incredibly scrummy king-sized dark-chocolate-coated wholemeal spelt flour, cocoa powder, damson jam and homegrown Morello cherries soaked in brandy Swiss fold (the rolling didn't quite work out) that's been in the freezer since our anniversary in September, and hit the slow gin. Woo hoo! We're all doomed16 -
