MrsCD said:but the other morning on GB news, Simon McCoy and Kirsty Gallagher were visibly moved when telling us about Sarah Everard. He asked us to take a minute of silence for Sarah and her family while they showed a picture of her. I thought that was a lovely thing to do and I don't think I've ever seen it done on a news programme before.

It was indeed a terrible crime, but I can't help wondering if the media would have gone to town on it quite so much if the victim hadn't been such a good-looking young woman who photographed so well.

It is best to have some form of security/alarm whilst out walking dogs, we've had a number of dog thefts from lone dog walkers recently it's shocking. Another worrying thing that was happening a few years ago around here was people intentionally hitting lone women's cars in lanes and then attacking them, I won't go into details. I've told my Mum now she doesn't have my Dad not to get out of the car and lock the doors if she is involved in an minor accident and just open the window alittle, you just never know about anyone these days and it may just be me however there seems to be alot more rage in people.14

Jk0, thank you so much for posting that! Sat through it straight away, absolutely brilliant, and *so* creative
Thriftygifty - read your post straight away as well, it's fortunate that I was paying attention. Good griefI'm probably going to be getting a car next year, if my familiarisation lessons go well, there's obviously a new world out there that I need to take account of.

That's fine, you didn't worry me - I've literally never owned a car though, or been a regular driver, so I simply have a lot to learn on all aspects of being a driver/owner.2023: the year I get to buy a car10

It can be isolated incidents but always good to be aware of what’s possible, like some years ago there were warnings not to have your handbag on the passenger seat with windows open as there were some being stolen at traffic lights…. I always put it in the passenger footwell so it’s not on show. You don’t hear that being a big thing anymore though.
in our local paper someone has just been done for several counts of indecent exposure in an area I walk alone in every couple of weeks…. I say alone, there’s always dog walkers about on the route, not many trees or places to hide, and I go in full daylight…. I never had any problem but knowing this will make me a bit more aware when I’m out and about.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?12
