Thriftygifty, that's understandable. Life admin can feel overwhelming at the best of times. I put multiple reminders in my phone calendar now, or it doesn't happen!12 -
Well, coffee drinkers, it's time to build up the stash. Heard on the radio that the crops in Brazil had been hit by frost!. And to expect prices to rise next year. Well a jar of instant does me about six months so I'm fine. But husband likes his french press. So got the deal of the week yesterday in Superstore (think our version of Tesco, but not as good) $1.44 for 454 gm cans of ground coffee. Bought the last two and a box of Kuerig cups for a $1.44 for 12. I'm buying if I see anything under $5 and stashing it for him and number two son.
They also said that pasta will be up by 30% next year because the wheat crop is a disaster.
Now, once the prices go up, will they ever come back down?

I’ve been upgrading my old incandescent Maglite riches to LED (the nite ize kit for the mini maglite) & while not cheap compared to buying a new torch, an old friend given a new decade of life is worth it. Pity there isn’t as good a conversion for the maglite solitaire. The lithium batteries have a much longer safer shelf life left in the torch than the old batteries too.15

Noted! My next online shop is getting bigger by the hour.

He has had a lady friend move in. She's a minature Spitz. She was abandoned by her human. My son was looking after her but due to his job we wound up keeping her for him. She's also a sardine conisseur. She is first in the shopping bags on a Saturday morning and looks after the old guy.
He has slowed down and sleeps most of the day but hey, he's eating and drinking and the plumbing is still good.

I don't post on here very often but have been following along stocking up ahead of events on a 'just in case' basis. Friends and family laughed at me to begin with until they were stuck in a covid queue while I was happy to stay away from the shops. Today is my food delivery from Mr A$da. I have 5 substitutes and 2 items not available. Think this is the worst one for a very long time. There are no grapes or apple juice in the store it would appear. It might be a one off but wont rely on that.

We have a weekly delivery from Mr A. A squash has been non existant for weeks and Robinsons not much around we've been having to get the big bottles instead.12 -
I'm doing a basic old style menu plan, using mainly recipes from the wartime cookbooks. Good filling casseroles with plenty of veg, assorted soups, crumbles and sponge puds with custard or semolina. Home baking. Buying in all the ingreds now so that we don't have trouble later on. We do eat plain stuff - this might not work for others though.

I've been very impressed how you changed from murderous stalker over on the Fence as I searched for knitting patterns for chainmail. You changed the horrible big brother is watching you avatar to your nice fluffy cat and stopped the pictures of Ming the Merciless and all seemed fine but plenty of veg? Are you an imposter trying to trick me now I've stopped looking over my shoulder and relaxed?pollyx
