Well GQ doesn't look like you can disappear into the ether after all! I think this forum needs you format or no format!
Well I came home from a day on the geegees to find we had gone into full lockdown here in Wales! I admit I said a lot of loud words that rhymed with DUCK!!
I was aiming to get some small presents and garden vouchers this week but that was stymied by Drakeford bringing in a full lockdown with about 6 hours warning! Apparently the shops were absolutely rammed today with queues round the block. I have got most of my xmas food , with an emergency turkey in the freezer along with a lump of beef and side of salmon. In true OS form turkey was 75% off, salmon was Lidly special with a further 30% off and beef special offer then reduced. Only thing I really need to buy is cream and milk which I can get at the local shop. I am having a friend over for Xmas dinner, she has basically been shielding since March , lives on her own, and will come to ours for dinner and then probably leave. Boys have been home for two weeks and OH nowhere near people so should be ok.
I must admit this morning I was down in the dumps about the new lockdown, rising cases, new variant of Covid and wondering when it will all end. Will the vaccine cover the new variants if they keep popping up? Yup! I was in a right misery!! Went for a walk round the farm and dug up some potatoes for dinner in the pouring rain, felt a bit better!

Also doing a little happy dance at the "sight" of GQ! You've been missed. Weirdly I was actually wondering how you were earlier on today, whilst out & about & thinking of my very own leeks & chard languishing away over on an allotment that's still pretty close to something you could make a dinner set out of. Better where we've dug compost, manure & old chicken bedding in, but still inclined to cling to one's boots until one can barely haul one's legs along. I do wish it would stop raining for a week or so!

My soil is very light and free-draining, but there is a trace of clay in there which can get skiddy and cause panning of the surface, so I like to scrat around on the surface when I can. The leeks have done very well, and the 2020 chard forest has been felled but the next chard generation are several plants about shin-high, from which I am stripping leaves for saladings. Love chard, it's the 365 day a year crop that keeps on giving.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Quick heads up - several EU countries imposing quarantine/travel ban on UK for 48hrs+ due to rapid spread of new strain here, which could in turn reduce fresh food imports as lorries might not come to uk if they can’t get back.Likely to be ok til Christmas as enough food already here, but after that less certain so good idea to get anything you’re low on asap (longlife milk for me)15

Think hard before retraining. I turned down a place in the Education Faculty because I suddenly realized I did not want to spend all my days with teenagers! I picked nursing because my Mother told me back in the 70s not to do it and that I’d be a terrible nurse. I think I’m adequate and most of my patients seem to like me.
But if I had to do it over, I wouldn’t pick nursing. Too many injuries, been assaulted twice, and the shift work is hard on the family. There are lots of jobs out there , make sure you do a lot of research20 -
I 'found' my career at 30/31, and then embarked on home study and exams to attain it. Took some breaks inbeween for wedding and maternity leave, but achieved my diploma on 2017. I was doing the job in the meantime, with supervision, and I do enjoy it (most days haha). It's not easy finding your thing, and I echo not rushing into it. 36 is still young for retraining, so don't put extra pressure on yourself in an already stressful time.
I was also a grumpy mare yesterday. So I stress cleaned, and then got annoyed with myself for deciding to start the mammoth task of cleaning the oven! Arghhh. I loathe that job. Absolutely loathe it!February wins: Theatre tickets19 -

Thanks, I think Covid has forced people to take a look at their life reevaluate. I have been at the same place of work for last 15 yrs on and off, its comfortable, incredible flexibility with home life and paid well, but when Covid happened it shook me up that if said company were to go then I would have nothing. I was thinking possibly teaching but would I actually be able to get a job after training if that were an option, all of the teachers I have met have been trained straight after leaving school. Anyhow I guess I should look on the other boards for this. I would just like a career/job where I feel like I am making a difference. Not medical though, I couldn't cope with that I am not strong enough.
On another note the travel ban is heating up 🙄 the perfect storm just got abit more intense.
