DD negative. Phew! Still unwell and running a fever though, so will be calling 111 later if it hasn't broken as it will have been 3 days with no obvious cause.February wins: Theatre tickets20

I took my two out of school last Friday so luckily they missed a lot of the covid contact. Both of my boys are well and are due out of quarantine on Tuesday!

Morning everyone, former poster here requesting permission to come back on board!
Like most people, I suspect, 2020's been horrid in lots of ways, and I keep trying to get back the forum but get scuppered all the time. However, I really miss the community here on the OS board and am back, ready to mend my ways.
The rest of the year will be as good as I can make it, but am reading back a few pages of my fave threads and getting back to OS ways.

DS Negative thank goodness, I can not wait for this school term to finish, we have this week to go. He now has headlice, add a Nitty Gritty comb to the prep list if you have small children, we had a cheap one but it is rubbish, it's the first time he has had lice.
@Euronorris, I hope you DD is ok, if it is the same virus that is going around my DS school it is an awful one, and seems that different children react differently from sickness, upset stomach, snotty and fever there have been a lot of children in DS class getting tested for Covid due to this virus.
Stocked up on a few tins from A this weekend, the larder is looking a lot better, I have been spending £20 extra a week for some time to get it stocked, keep in mind that we had nothing and I mean nothing in the larder at the start of this in Jan, I am battening down the hatches for Jan 21 and closing my purse other than usual weekly food budget. Is anyone else thinking than Jan won't be to bad in the supermarkets other than fresh for supplies and that it will be more Feb, my logic is that they have stockpiled for the initial first month, any thoughts?
Things that I do need are shoes for the children, wet weather gear for all of us, seeds, and next size up school uniform oh and a car to fit us all in now little DS is here, we did need a new fridge however the old one seems to have come back to life and stopped thinking its a freezer, DH seems to think now the weather has cooled down its settled down? Can that happen?
I popped into Boots at the weekend they had a lot of offers on soap, x2 Pears amber for 90p, handmade organic soap £1.49 a bar, I bought some for Christmas gifts, and I stocked up on Coltar soap 85p a bar as at the start of this you could not get it for love or money, it is the only soap my teenage nephew can use.

Thanks Thrifty. I am glad your son was negative too!DD still poorly. We saw out of hours GP at 9pm sat night, where they tested her pee and it showed high levels of ketones and glucose and there was talk of type 1 diabetes. We were sent home whilst they discussed with hospital what to do. They then called and said sometimes strips in an old, opened, pack can be faulty and wanted to do another test and a finger !!!!!! test, but as she was stable if we were happy to wait, we could come back in the morning. We agreed to that as we were all shattered and literally only just got home. When we went back yesterday both the urine test and the blood !!!!!! test were normal. Phew! We were very worried saturday night, Still no answers for reason for fever etc, but told us if fever not gone by today, call again (as it's day 5). We got outside and the car brokedown......had to be towed home.Well, still fever, and now a rash too! Thankfully not meningitis type rash. And fever now not getting as high, and responds better to medicine. So have called 111 and they have booked her in with our usual GP to give us a call, but we don't know when it will be. Looking at possible things on the NHS site, it's a toss up between Measles and Roseola. As she's been vaccinated for Measles, I'm swinging more towards Roseola, but hopefully GP will be able to confirm later. I don't think she will be back in school before Christmas, especially as they now close on Thursday.MIL is lending us her car (her husband has one also, so they won't be without transport), and we have managed to get insured on that for 2 weeks whilst we get our car fixed. We are all very tired in this house. Hope everyone else is doing better.February wins: Theatre tickets19

Euronorris, I hope your DD gets well soon. It's hard when our children are poorly. At least you are still mobile thanks to your MIL. Our DD's school often has an outbreak of slapped cheek just before Christmas.
Thriftygifty, the best advice I ever had re head lice was from a health visitor. She said if you brush or comb the hair a LOT, it will break the legs of the lice so they can't hold onto the hair shaft to lay their eggs, so it breaks the cycle. Also keep hair short as they like the nice warm patch underneath a ponytail.2025 Fashion on the ration

I live on the top floor of 16 storey flat, a corner flat, when it rains but only very heavily....water pours down my kitchen window and on to the floor.... I reported it for repair in hope ...if not expectation... appreciate the practical difficulty of any repairs.....but I have to have towels on the sill all the time just in case.... engineer rang to arrange inspection but said its waste of time and inferring I would just have to live with it.... do I complain ? Reduced rent or do I have to live with it....know its preppers thread but any info appreciated15
