I read that the PTB have told GP's not to prescribe paracetamol and Ibuprofen for pain for some reason, I can't remember what.. so it will be getting harder to buy as a knock-on effect.today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

There was an article about not prescribing pain relief where chronic pain cannot be attributed to injury or a medical condition but to prescribe antidepressants, psychological therapy or acupuncture instead. From the BBC.

We had quite a stock of paracetemol and ibuprofen already, some of which we have used here and there. So have already been topping up a bit anyway. I haven't had any issues adding one of each to my order, and picked up one of each in boots also (who had plenty by the way if anyone is struggling).
I have steri strips after slicing my finger open last year. Its surprisingly easy to cut your finger while chopping potatoes. One little slip was all it took.
On a different note. Make sure you have a plunger or some kind of toilet unblocking tool in your possession. *barf*February wins: Theatre tickets13 -
Good to hear you're safe and resting lots, GQ, sorry you're so sore. I hope it doesn't take too long before your body starts to heal well.GreyQueen said:
Thank you for your good wishes. I’m very tired and sore, resting lots. Physio to do etc. My family are having to quarantine with me t for two weeks post surgery as it would go very badly if I got Covid now with a raised risk of death.

I have paracetamol on prescription and asked the GP to take it off my repeat scripts because it's easy to buy over the counter (and cheaper) and I didn't want to put an extra strain on the NHS finances. She said she would leave it on so that they can keep track of what I'm taking. I only take a couple a day when necessary. You can't win! (I just don't apply for them via prescription now I buy over the counter as and when needed, so it was pointless).

Hello all
V worrying that medicines maybe in short supply post Brexit. I did notice in Lidl this week there were no Ibuprofen available except the branded expensive stuff. I have built up a good stock of both paracetamol and ibuprofen plus cold and flu meds. I will need to go through and check for any gaps.
I seem to have taken a turn for the worse regarding my virus. This is the fourth week I have been unwell and now I have a tight chest, cough, shortness of breath, aching and general exhaustion. The doctor put me on antibiotics ( which I v rarely take) and now is putting me on another course. I know they are no good for viral symptoms but they are just making sure it is not bacterial pneumonia. Speaking to the doctor she thinks I had Covid despite two negative tests. Part of me thinks well at least I have had it but I may not have any long term immunity.

If it’s any consolation, we’re not in Beirut. Miword what a bang & a mess, and Covid to boot. (Suddenly that virus is protecting us from foreign hazards?!)

This is what I had too - with antibiotics in case of secondary infection due to continued spiking temperature after a month. I had the doxycycline/amoxicillin combo which was horrible. I then stopped taking my temperature as soon as I had two days of normal readings and have avoided doing so since. Picked up around week 6 with just odd bouts of fatigue, then crashed majorly at 18 weeks. Apparently the 35-50 year old age group are the ones who are predominantly getting it this way. Mild/manageable initial symptoms but ongoing issues with symptoms that are difficult to explain - bloods are fine, lungs are fine, ECG is fine despite chest pains and weird HR issues. We’re being warned not to exercise, to rest and to eat a varied diet - in my case I’ve been specifically told to go back to low carb. My only identified issue is low calcium which I am addressing through diet. I’m also continuing vit D and Vit C supplementation in medical advice but knocking off the iron.elaine241 said:Hello all

I think my crash (and that of others from what I’m hearing through the support groups) is down to deciding I was better and not resting enough. As someone said, people used to convalesce after things like TB, glandular fever or even flu. PM me if you have any questions.
Oh - and up the fermented foods to help with the antibiotic recovery too!18
