I work in a charity shop. We only reopened a couple of weeks ago and have been swamped with donations. There's been a good number of books but perhaps not as many as I would have expected. I suspect people are passing them on to friends or hanging on to them to read again. No wool donations yet.19

Remember a few weeks ago I posted about my local hospices donation station...they've had to temporarily close while their volunteers sort through 22 tonnes of stuff!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

My turn to worry - DP wasn't feeling well yesterday, had a temperature and was feeling run down. No cough though. Went to bed early and then when I awoke at about midnight, I heard him say he was cold and shivering, so I got a blanket for him. It was a muggy night and we just had a light duvet. Today he's just gone for a drive through test, felt much better this morning after sweating it out overnight (he rarely gets ill). Will wait and see what the test turns up, has me feeling on edge, though.

I'm hoping Elaine is as well! Thanks, Ivyleaf. Test done this morning, DP said it made him gag a bit. He came home and his temp had gone up to 38.2'C so definitely has a fever, has gone back to bed for now. Results could be between 24 hrs and up to 5 days apparently! In the meantime we have to self-isolate. We've got two lovely 8 week old kittens so we need to stay well!Elaine I hope you are doing OK, please don't overdo things, it's easy to feel better then relapse.

Hope your partner is feeling better soon, Zentimes.
Like thriftwizard, I’m going to start planning my festive purchases. My office is next to a big shopping centre so I normally get all of my presents there on my lunch breaks but I will probably avoid going in there if I am even back in the office by then so will have to plan ahead and buy online (I don’t do Amazon though). I had been hoping to host Christmas for the first time but who knows if that will be possible.Original mortgage free date: November 2044Current mortgage free date: November 2038Chipping away...11 -
Oooh, fingers crossed for you & your partner, Zentimes.
Come to think of it, I have a - certain amount - of wool/yarn stashed away to keep me busy, also fabric. Oh, ok, it's a hoard, apparently... so no stocking up on craft supplies for me! But a book or two, maybe...?Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)12 -
Thank you for the good wishes, I am feeling fine but still seem to get tired late afternoon. I actually sat down and watched TV this afternoon, which is highly unusual for me!! Felt OK but now I am going to bed early to give myself time to sleep as long as possible.
Zentimes hope your partner is feeling a bit better, the results came through the next day for us so not too long to worry and wait. After testing two (or three times for youngest son) I know how worrying waiting for the results can be. Some part of you thinks it would be a "good" time to get it over with whilst another fears that you or your loved ones will be one of the poor unfortunate people who need hospital help. If you partner rarely gets ill he probably has a strong immune system and could fight off most viruses.
On a positive note the veg garden is really getting its act together. I picked a bucket full of peas today but I will not be asking the boys to shell them. The last lot they did ended up with only about 500g of peas, the rest eaten before they managed to get into the bowl!!!

Glad you're not too bad Elaine. Listen to your body and try to pace yourself, to leave spare energy for healing11
