I’m definitely going to stock up on some activities - we finished our library books fairly quickly! We have Netflix and radio but no tv. I think I’m going to look for some more board games that are good for 2 players, books, and wine 😁

Nargleblast said:By November, according to the Government, our lives should be something like back to normal as regards work and leisure activities. Just in time for the usual winter bugs and flu season. If we have a second wave of Covid 19 on top of that we could find ourselves back in lockdown again, and this time without the beautiful spring weather. With this in mind, what preparations will we need to make, bearing in mind what we've learned from our experiences so far this year?
But I always end up in a mad panic when it comes to Christmas presents, food etc. So this year, it's going to have to be different! I'll be ordering sausages, bacon & The Bird from a young farmer friend who delivers, drink will be acquired when DD1's shop has a general sale, and the rest we can probably make if we have to. I'll keep a close eye on flour & oat stocks & re-order as soon as we get close to the bottom of the sacks.
Just hope we can have more than 2 households mixing by then. Otherwise, which sons shall I leave out?Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)13 -
I think that we've been able to handle being in lockdown because the weather during the first few weeks was really good and people could go outside the house for fresh air and exercise. In the depths of winter, with rain, and winds, and dark mornings and evenings it will be much harder. The Danish concept of Hygge makes interesting reading.
Stores-wise, remember the problems with flour, pasta and toilet rolls! One life - your life - live it!14 -
Is there some issue with caster sugar? Lid hasn't had any for weeks according to my sister who shops there, A has now removed their own version online and now only sell the branded one which is available but 1.85. I have a bread question for those that bake it in an electric oven how much would you say it costs in electricity? Are you baking one loaf at a time or multiple? I have a Kmix which has a dough hook but never attempted bread yet!11

Hundreds of books here too. DH won't part with any. I'd have loads of room for preps if we didn't have so many. S'pose we could always eat them if SHTF.12

Husband looking forward to burning some of mine, but he can leave the cookbooks & my crime library Strictly Alone. Lest I try one of his tissue & balsa planes on the flames - with all the glue & other chemicals it might be prettily coloured or it might launch partway up the chimney & burn there....
Had that chimney swept, er, about 11 years ago - fire not been lit since, should I get it swept again?
Old DVD player cables not compatible with new TV - indeed I think someone took a decision & has retired it forcibly - I may get a compatible & more energy efficient little device to surprise the chaps with.13
