Sorry you're having garden problems. We have had very little out of a usually productive garden for the last two years. The spuds didn't grow. The onions didn't grow. Pigeons ate my brassicas.
This year seems to be much, much better. The spuds got frosted but soon picked up well again, tomatoes are flowering. Just hoping we don't get blight.
We are normally inundated with apples, cooking and eating, but this year hardly any on the trees. Plums looking a bit sparse too. Bragging now - my baby pear tree has baby pears if they don't fall off.12 -
Hi Euronorris, I would love to swap some mangetout seeds if possible. Sorry to hear you're not having a great year growing. If you like I will send you some "house tomato" seeds, I plan on saving these and sowing again now for hopefully a winter crop as they grow indoors I will just supplement some light! I only grow Tom's under glass here because of blight and mostly just the fact they won't ripen in Scotland outdoors. I'm really pleased with them, specifically bred for the house, this is them now on my kitchen window 😊21

@maryjane87 yes please, that would be lovely!
Yes, my tomatoes are outside, and not in a greenhouse as we don't have one, and no space for one. Certainly makes them more susceptible.

@Si_Clist - even those of us who have had it mildly are suffering from what's now being called 'post-Covid fatigue'. I had a formal diagnosis earlier this week, have tests booked for next week after which we'll discuss a treatment and rehab plan. Medics are expecting an epidemic of chronic fatigue starting around now so we'll be dealing with that as well as further waves of virus. Chronic fatigue is hugely under-researched and under-resourced - hopefully that will change, but for the moment it means we'll have a lot of people with a range of symptoms that mean they are exhausted and can't function properly and no proper treatment because we won't really know what the underlying cause is.23

Unfortunately it's not just fatigue people are dealing with post infection - some have experienced long lasting damage to heart and lungs for example. Covid 19, even if it falls out of circulation, will have left a ticking timebomb and additional pressures on the NHS. On a lighter note, I planted some leftover sprouting potatoes from my government foodbox and they are now tall and bushy and flowering. I've had to tie back the foliage as I was struggling to get in to the patio. Can't wait to see what's underneath all that - I have no idea what variety they are.16

My boss' fiance had to do ventilator time (kept testing negative) & he is clearly not yet back 100% - he has panicky spells at how close to death he was, at how he's physically not anywhere near as robust as he was and is a less than perfect patient. She's getting the "in sickness & in health" practice in early, poor lass.
Me, I am looking at getting more pots & getting the peas and kale and broccoli separated out some more as they're all surviving!15 -
I'm trying not to think about heart and lung damage at the moment, and am busy pretending that those are only relevant for people who have been hospitalised. Anyone who has been on a ventilator is bound to take time to recover regardless of the reason.
PCR (antigen) tests aren't easy to do - apparently lots of people test negative when they self-test and then test positive later. I also noticed when I did my latest one (I'm doing them periodically for a research project) that they now say you have to do them between days 4 and 6 after first symptoms. After day 6 is too late. TBH given how vague the symptoms are, huge numbers of people will be missed.
Stay away from germs!18
