I wish I had ‘paced’ myself throughout my earlier life and not tried to be a Warrior - you just wear yourself out quicker 🙁17 -
My 17 year old granddaughter has had this for around the last 3 years. Apparently teenagers can shake it off, and I believe she is doing. After hardly being able to leave the house, let alone go to school, she is doing very well at college and seems to be managing to pace herself OK. The lockdown started to send her back down, but I think she is popping up again.
It is very, very difficult to cope with something that no-one can actually get a grasp on and help because nobody knows what to do. My sympathies to everyone with this. People don't believe it is real until they come close to it.15 -
"Apparently teenagers can shake it off, and I believe she is doing." - I was 19 when I first had it, so I'll happily agree with that. But would have been 39 the second time; I think I was very lucky that it did eventually fade into the background & let me get on with life - not that I had any choice, really! But I must have had it quite mildly; I have several friends who have suffered for very much longer, with no end in sight.

Re Tesco deliveries, mine are arriving bagged. I was concerned at the amount of plastic I am generating but the driver told me this week that I can give them back at the next delivery and they recycle them. In the meantime I have used some up by putting 2 or 3 inside each other, piercing for drainage and using as containers for things like climbing beans.14

Hello All
Been a bit quiet on here recently.
Well as from Monday we have been allowed to travel for leisure more than five miles from our homes although I think many people were just ignoring this rule. I for one had to travel more than this to go to the supermarket although I made sure I combined it with all the things I needed to do such as check the sheep ( escaped!! into neighbours field!), collect prescriptions, shop for shielding friend, deliver eggs to other friends, pick up animal feed etc. I am still making sure I do as little interaction as possible and wear a mask, gloves and take antiviral spray. The lane outside the farm is a little quieter but people still seem to be enjoying going for their walks.
The veg garden has gone mad and with the wet weather coming in I suspect it will go even more bananas.
I have been very lucky shopping wise as Lidl had bread flour in (36p/kilo) and Morrisons had the large tubs of dried yeast in both the fast action and the normal, I bought two of each. I looked into buying a big sack of bread flour from Amazon but I think the Lidl flour seems to be more economical and comes ready packaged in smaller amounts. I have a vacuum sealer, is it necessary to seal the flour in plastic before freezing to prolong the shelf life? I have never stored flour. The packets have best before dates of March 2021.
Hope everyone OK and just busy!!

@elaine241 Squires are cheaper than Amazon https://www.squires-shop.com/catalogue/bread-making-and-flourI have no connection with them other than as a customer. They were straightforward to deal with, quick delivery. Local wholesalers who normally supply the hospitality trade around here have also opened up to private customers, may be the same where you are - supermarkets have been pretty rubbish, but I have found several sources of flour, if you don't mind larger sizes.

Please don't mention bananas! DD2 is already growing lemons, papaya & an avocado in our not-very-big urban garden; she's been muttering about banana palms for a while now. I think we need a bigger garden. Possibly closer to the Equator!
DS1's lovely partner & I spent some time at the allotment this morning, and they've just trotted off on the train back to Town clutching puppy in one hand and a bag full of new potatoes, fresh beetroot & courgettes in the other. Which comes as something of a relief as now I only have to deal with the ones I grabbed at the weekend (10 courgettes on Saturday - another 6 today now on their way to London) plus a bag of onions so heavy I struggled to lift it. They are now drying out in my apple trays in the garage & there are two more rows coming up behind them; quite chuffed as I've never managed to grow more than a handful before. So now there's some space free to start planting the winter veg, and I have a few days to get my head around onion plaiting.Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)16 -
Prepping paused for a moment until I can get my head back in the game. The wobble I was having the other day has now turned into whatever the next level up is. DH job concern now escalated as he isn't one of the ones back, I thought they were closed however a drive by and they are open 😭 unless people go out his job is further at risk however we aren't going out so I feel like a hypocrite, right now I can't see which way is up. I think it may be time to sell my childhood toys they aren't worth loads but are worth some, I guess that would count as prepping? Hope everyone is doing ok.17

Don't panic Thrifty. The fact that you are on this thread shows that you are as prepared as you can be and you have the most important commodity - common sense. Things will work out and you won't starve. Chin up chicken16
