... what do you take 'to make sure of' when away from your own place for a few days?
I have a BOB and a Hospital Grab Bag (which, of course, doubles as a "night away" bag), which pretty much covers most situations.0 -
Personally, I don't really care about original photos - I *like* them, but I don't care about them, as long as I've got really good quality scans. I appreciate I'm in a minority in that, and I do feel odd about it because I'm a family historian, after all, I feel like I *should* care, more than I do.
Anyway, I also have scans of all documents, which yes, includes exam results and share certificates. I back everything up to an external hard disc, which is in a little portable fireproof safe, and the most important folders on my computer - preparedness, photos, family history and finances, are all also backed up onto a flash drive, which is in my BOB. The stuff that isn't confidential is also backed up onto a google account.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Yes, I'd say Brexit qualifies as a disaster.:D
On the important subject of tea I notice that Waitrose now have loose leaf Darjeeling back in stock - they didn't have any for months and I had to resort to buying a kilo online from Taylors of Harrogate..
End of the month we're off skiing for a couple of weeks in my GFs van. and staying for free in a friend's flat (I'm not that well off!). I'm wondering how to use all the extra space in the van and what to bring back. Wine,(Verdicchio at Lidl for €1.49 this week!), cheese, large bags of Carnaroli rice, olive oil from the producer (on the last bottle from last year). Any other suggestions?
Incidentally, yesterday had a delivery of 4 wheels/snow tyres for the van which came swiftly from a warehouse in Germany. I was chatting with the driver and joked about the possible use of the local M3 as a lorry park for Portsmouth ferry port. He laughed about the whole shambles and said "If we were voting now with what we know now.."0 -
Miword yes, if you do not have your winter tyres on yet, now might be a good time. They really do help in the wet & With Stopping.
That said, knowing how to change a wheel is a dashed handy skill. The extending tyre iron helps wonderfully with the leverage but it just takes stubbornness to crank the little jack each time...0 -
I think you mean Wheel Brace, rather than a Tyre Iron, DFV.
I can't imagine you would actually put a fresh tyre on a wheel, at the side of the road.0 -

This link confirms that the referendum was consultative.
No
And they took this "advisory" result and made it in to law, gave us a leave date and everything.
So it's advisory in the sense that they implemented the result :rotfl:0 -
PLEASE!!! I agree that the 'B' word can be seen as a disaster and I have no objection to preps of a practical and sensible nature for any possible disaster scenario including Brexit being discussed here BUT NOT THE POLITICS!!! this isn't a thread for political discussion its for PREPAREDNESS to mitigate the perceived results of it happening. No amount of shouting at us preppers is going to change the result, it's NOT our fault it happened in the first place and it adds nothing to the 'prepping information base' that already exists in this and previous prepping threads it diverts from this and distracts from the intended purpose of the thread. The politics of 'Brexit' have a place if you are intent on dissecting them and trying to change peoples outlook BUT THIS THREAD ISN'T IT!!!0
