Wearing a mask is a fraught social issue, but you can now make & use safely a simple mask that whilst nowhere near medical grade is a step towards stopping the droplets. The pattern & advice surrounding is here. Y'know, I could almost go for a burka?! Conceal the state of my hair, and protect myself and my family a bit.12

I think controversial is lots more positive than hospitalized or dead! bring on those masks and stay as safe as you can if you HAVE to mix again. We'll try to stay as 'out of the way' of all people for as long as we can. Most people who need to be in contact have been amazingly accommodating to our notes left on front and back doors saying we're isolating please knock and leave whatever you've delivered and then step back far enough for us to be safe, and they have without any fuss at all. Our most fervent thanks to each and every one of them!11

I wrote thank you notes for the lady who delivers mum's pills, the bin men (I taped it onto the top of the bin), the new milkman and veg delivery man . One of the dogwalkers said she 'loved my note' (She and the dog were at the end of the path), I was padlocking the gate (I push one of the bins up to our side of the gate and leave a metal bucket out for the milk man, then take the bucket to the shed (garden items have been left in the yard) until I can deal with them (garden items just left between 3 days and a week). I am planning to write notes for the other bins and put 'cheerful stuff'' on the sides of the bins for the passing dogwalkers and child walkers - saw toddler twins yesterday who looked bewildered about 'walking' (one hand holding parent apiece). Maybe they are used to being shoved into a car seat and not let out again until they reach their destination. So glad I brought the remainder of my 15yo stash of plastic pockets - I was working in an office building where the workers were being relocated one at a time or sometimes a whole department cluster. Many took the view that they would be provided with new stationery, desk trays etc when they reached their new location, so just dumped all their desk stuff by the waste paper bins for us to deal with. One night 7 sacks of 'confidential waste' turned up - but all the papers were still in plastic pockets. Had to tip each sack out and remove all the plastic pockets. I hate waste so I reclaimed as much as possible and have donated it appropriately over the years (lots of pens and pencils to Pens for Children charity). Still wish I could have made space for the large metal rubbish bins (one of the workers took most of the desk trays for her allotment). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage13

Yesterday I took one look at my hair, oinsidered what it'd be like in 10 more weeks and thought much the same. (And you'd have to see the state of my hair before deciding on the level of flippancy...

What are you all missing being able to visit the most? I’m really missing going to the garden centre. I’m not the gardener in the house, DH is, but we go together to a really nice place just out of London and have a cup of tea and a slice of cake before looking around. Its so peaceful to walk among the plants and find things to buy. We also buy our seed balls for the birds there. I really miss going.11

One of my tenants is a hairdresser...I think I know what to suggest if she can't pay the rent at some point.11

I miss just being able to just go out the door and do my own shopping although my daughhter is doing a fabulous job of that for me.
Like us all I just miss the freedom of a normal life. I miss NOT having to stress over washing the shopping that comes into the house (yes I'm paranoid)
I miss family visits and hugs yes miss visiting the garden center too
Miss the hairdresser usually get a cut once a month and just missed the last one before lockdown dread to see how it will be later on scary thought
Miss not having people to talk to all of us who are alone in isolation will miss that although video calls are a help
miss the nice bread although I'm grateful for whatever can be found
I sound all doom and gloom I'm not really trying to stay cheerful I've brought out two fake sunflowers in cheery colours orange and yellow in a yellow jug (as if you all wanted to know that)
Anyway wishes happy days soon for us all
Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

DfV thanks for the links to the face mask pattern. I have been considering wearing one for some time, and having seen quite a few exercisers walking past wearing them, and wearing a neck warmer pulled up a few times myself, I will try my hand at a scarf, and see if it works. One reason is, I get hay fever, and can imagine the looks if I had a fit of explosive sneezes while out walking doggie.10
