Shropshirelass said:I've been ordering online from Sainsbury for a few years, never had any problems as I order mainly basic, heavy items I struggle to carry. Today's delivery, ordered 10 days ago, will be missing UHT milk, TP, tomatoes, pasta. Hope I will be able to register for priority delivery as they appear to be promising, otherwise I will find it impossible to 'social isolate' as requested by the government. Will need to forage round supermarkets in local towns for basics.
At present, words fail me in describing the chaos around food shopping. Are some people stocking up to re-sell in a future black market?11 -
My Iceland was chocker – where did cut out that it was opening at eight for the OAPs and vulnerable, but staff had been in since for trying to stock shelves and they made nine till 11 0ldie hour! And there was a limit of maximum two items of everything. No deliveries till a week on Monday so I could only buy what I could carry. Loads of empty freezers in cabinets but I managed to get plain chicken breasts big pack of bacon a big thing of cheese and four of those chicken breast and turkey breast roasts (the nice ones not Bernard Matthews).Got two of my nice loaves of bread from Waitrose – one for this week and one for the freezer 😃11

I wonder how Sainsbugs will find out who is over 70 and who is younger but ill?I depend on them as can't manage to get to a store or walk round it, have had to switch to Morrisons now as no delivery slots available with Sainsbugs for weeks now.9

It's just that you are in any case limited to the amount you can buy at any one time, it's not as if you can make off with a trolleyfull! There must be some determined panic buyers out there making repeat purchases!

Our Morrisons had restocked the cheap paracetamol as well as the brand name versions (almost everything Max is the drug you want plus caffeine - buy cheap & choose your preferred caffeine be it tea, coffee, cola or whatever?!) Thank you for the logic & the arithmetic - I need to try a little harder as there may be 4 of us.8

Hello all
Haven't posted on here for ages but still prepping!! Our local town is like some bad post apocalyptic movie with cars queuing about half a mile from the bloomin supermarket and people panic buying everything!! Luckily I have developed a well stocked pantry over the years and I am stocked in pasta, rice, grains, flours, dried goods, UHT milk, cans, loo roll (!) etc. My freezer is well filled and I have plenty of seeds ready for the veg garden. I have built up a very diverse and extensive medical cupboard, grabbing bargains when I see them. I have plenty of paracetamol, calpol, ibuprofen, cold and flu remedies, sore throat tablets, vitamins etc and have not needed to rush to buy anything.
I have taken my boys out of school as we were faced with teachers self isolating due to contacts with confirmed cases and other students feeling unwell. I may have jumped the gun a bit but I am sure it is only a matter of days until they shut the schools.
I am so glad I found this thread many years ago as it has enabled me to face this new crisis with a more sensible, prepared steady approach rather than the headless chicken antics of others. I don't want to sound smug but I feel relieved that my prepping has enabled me to provide for and protect my family.
I hope everyone stays safe and well and we all get through this worrying time.

Just had a recorded message and an email from my water provider.Hello
We know these are worrying times and everybody is doing their best to look after each other. We just wanted to reassure you that we’re working round-the-clock to make sure we can keep our water services going and keep delivering our essential services to you, your neighbours, family and friends'.I wasn't worried about water till I got that!
