Well...
It seems having come across this thread years ago has put me in good stead for what is happening now, or at least better than if I hadn’t .
I have good stocks of most things i need I think. I am sure there will be some things I haven’t thought about, but in a much better place than lots I can think of if we end up in lock-down for weeks or months.
I need to stock up on some more batteries and lightbulbs probably, and think I will go get some seeds and compost for growing some food, and extra tea bags. Need to have a look and maybe sort freezer a bit to get rid of unessentials and make room for more important things, but I reckon I would be ok for a few months if needed. Except for bread. May look at getting a bread machine and mix for this to have as an emergency kit. Oh and some wine, I don’t store alcohol, but right now should maybe get some in. Plus cat stuff, I will get lots more of that in this week as haven’t got the usual stores of that in at the moment.
Some people think I am utterly bonkers for having so much stuff in in case of a zombie apocalypse , but it is amazing how comfortable it makes you feel. No major stress at the thought of shops running low, or having to isolate at the drop of a hat. When I say at work that I probably have enough toilet roll for 4 months if not more they are all falling about laughing, yet they would freak out if they couldn’t get any. I could literally clean me, the house, clothes , for at least 6 months probably a year if I had to stretch it. I would miss the fresh veg though, might set some potato bags off and look at growing mushrooms I have never done that before so a new challenge.
Anyhow, they can laugh away, I am a happy chappie with my stores of stuff...😀...so a big thanks for all the information over the years I have collected from this thread.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.15 -
@calicocat I have a toilet paper delivery due! Our village FB site has just started a discussion about how we can all help each other. Supporting the village shop would help - if everyone orders their shopping from it for a few weeks instead of going to the supermarket that'll keep it open for months!

Had Tesco delivery today - said I never wanted the driver inside kitchen from now on - they packed the order in bags and left on doorstep, and no need to sign - super service - easier than a normal delivery.

The inside of the box ( and its contents) maybe 24 hours ago - but is that enough - it depends and my research so far has come up lacking - again from the perspective of someone with pretty much four years of chemo under my belt.

I am friendly with a couple of neighbours, one of which is a disabled couple who I worry about if she gets it, and will imagine my stores will be helping her out too. When she is ill I generally cook extra food for them so they don’t have to do that when under pressure. Note to self to suggest she gets plenty of cat food in as she has 5 of them to feed. She has carers going in every day, so possibly more vulnerable from that anyway regardless of her own disabilities. Her respiratory function is fine though. He works and drives, the problem will come is her carers get ill, but we will just have to work that out as it happens.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Not cheap however, and possibly hard to get, Amazon will be getting them in but I think you can order them now.
