The diagnosed case of coronavirus is in the Cotswolds so miles from us, we're closer to the Herefordshire/Wales border, and the person diagnosed positive had just returned from Italy so as far as I know it's not in the community and I'm going to be life as normal until I find otherwise. I thought I'd be much more edgy when something like this happened but I feel strangely unphased not in part because I'm prepped as much as I can be and the reassurance of having those preps in hand is keeping me grounded. Off for coffee this morning to a garden centre and the sun is shining through the window and the horrid weather has gone.....I've lived through worse!10

The downside for those of us who are out at work (or otherwise out and about in the community a lot) is that we are exposed to many more people and, by association, all the people they are exposed to, just in the process of earning our livings. Magnify that hugely for healtcare providers, carers, teachers etc. We also have all the opportunities of exposure that all but the housebound share, such as shops, buses etc etc. I do know in my large office that we share a lot of upper respitory tract infections, they literally proceed from one end of the office to another, striking more of us each day. Many of my colleagues are of an age where they have children at nursery and school, sharing bugs which are shared with their family which are then shared with the workforce. Bearing in mind that we get knocked down like ninepins with the common cold and the flu, I shudder to think what would happen if one link in our chain had Covid19.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Quite right Grey Queen. I'm the one bringing in germs ATM, thanks to DD. I do my best to limit spread, with tissues, antibacterial gel and staying out of the tea round, but not always successful.February wins: Theatre tickets8

Good on yer. We've had several nasty colds going around our office and some of my younger colleagues have had coughs they can't shake for a couple of months now. Myself and the other fifty-somethings have been keeping well, despite sitting beside the poorlies, due (I should think) to having encountered these bugs before and built up an immunity. Nice to have some benefits to aging but scary to know that this novel corona-virus will be new to every single immune system on the planet. Thinking on for the coming workweek, I am going to take my own water bottle, to eliminate any need to fill up at the water cooler in the office kitchen.

I'm not going to turn into a germophobe, but just thinking about what little things I can do to give myself a slight advantage in terms of limiting my exposure. I am majorly stocked on hand gel, due to past preptastic habits, so will take some of that and use after touching common items like door handles etc. You can only do so much. Have a lovely holiday, Karmakat!

I work in a charity shop a couple of days a week. There's only one toilet with a towel for hand drying so I'm wondering if I should take my own small towel rather than use the communal one.Having had a bad chest infection earlier this year I really don't want to risk catching anything else.9

I'm surprised no-one has started a Corona Virus thread of its own.
Looking today the W.H.O. are advising over 60s not to go to shops or anywhere really - sounds depressing and its not even got a hold here yet.
