We are still fully stocked up for winter as we can get cut off here I like to have a decent supply anyway.
I did double check we have enough medicine and made sure all prescription medication is definitely up to date ( and called MIL to make sure she does not leave it to the last minute as she is a higher risk group)
I think we will know more in the next month or so, I hope they can contain the spread but want to be prepared if it does come this way.9 -
HI everyone
Apologies, but I've lost track of what is going on - skipped a few dozen pages forward - so hope I haven't missed any momentous news.MingVase said:First case in Scotland now. We're off to Costco again this morning, will be at the door for opening time. Edinburgh Costco is never usually busy early on and there's plenty of space to walk around. Sometimes you overlook preps and we forgot about salt. Used it all on the path last week.
I was lying in bed thinking that this might be one of those moments in time that you never forget - like when Kennedy died or when we landed on the moon. Interesting times aye!
However, I've also wondered if the "cold" that I had before Christmas wasn't part of an unreported wave of the Corona virus. The symptoms were similar.

Well, I managed to find 900g of powdered egg online this morning to top up our stash, but was a bit surprised to note that the price has already just about doubled compared to what I paid 6 months ago! Also interesting how many online suppliers are showing out of stock ...

my partner messaged me this morning, advising me to top up on my shopping. he was worried about me having to stay home and not having any food or medication..., we have known each other for 3 years and I haven't opened up about the extent of my hoard! shows how well hidden it is.... but now I feel I need to nip out and get some more loo roll and stuff lol

Ah Cornishchick, it's always wise to have a small obvious stash & the real one better hidden. Of both preps and pocket change. A certain reticence is prudent - one son knows where there is a tea stash but my husband opines I have too much stuff already & that extra tea is raw frivolity... (Yes, this from a man who has met me without tea & only just survived.)10

I was in Tesco today and it looked pretty normal, certainly not as if the zombie hordes had descended. Interesting piece in the Guardian saying that all the major supermarkets have contingency plans to work together with suppliers to drastically reduce the number of lines stocked so that suppliers can concentrate on churning out the essentials. That's the sort of thing that would probably be treated as anti competitive ordinarily but I found it reassuring to think that they had made contingency plans which looked beyond their own immediate interests as an organisation and envisaged working together to keep the country fedIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!14

QuestionDo you recommend buying some bottled water or will the tap water be ok still - sorry if the going gets tough so to speak“You’re only here for a short visit.

I think if it gets to the stage when the tap water isn't OK over a wide area a few bottles of water isn't going to do much. But it's possible burst water mains etc could take longer to fix. So no harm having a bit in stock - I always have some because if the water gets cut off for urgent repairs they don't give you much noticeIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!10
