The Prepping Thread - A Newer Beginning ;)

Yesterday most of the comments on the dailymail were mocking the preppers on mumsnet, and today we get to read the reasons why everyone should be Prepping. I hope they change their minds about the effects of this 'Flu'"The NHS has said it is well prepared for the growing threat but senior doctors have admitted that they could have to ration care and focus on those most likely to survive and former Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said: 'The NHS would find it hard to cope if the pandemic took off'.
Under protocol dubbed 'Three Wise Men', a hospital's most senior consultants would meet daily and decide which patients would get beds and ventilators based on those most likely to recover. It means that vulnerable people such as the elderly and already seriously ill would be given less priority than younger and healthier patients."

That's always happened in the NHS markin.

But it's the 'Daily Wail' and I'm not sure I'd believe all that is in print. Don't forget newspapers reason for being is to sell papers to customers, not to tell the truth. I would think each case would be assessed on it's own merits and treatment decided on that not age or level of infirmity. The NHS trains doctors and nurses to save lives not be the arbitrators of death by ageism.10

Well, Morries was manic. I have topped up our supplies as much as I can (limited storage). I saw LOTS of people doing similar and trollies filled mostly with tins. Lady on the till commented that there were a lot of people preparing to quarantine.
Zero antibacterial gel left in sainsburys or morries here (ETA: or boots). Needed to top up as have used a lot with recent colds. Remembered matalan, and they still had someFebruary wins: Theatre tickets9 -

A person in Gloucestershire has tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the UK to 23.
They are one of three cases confirmed today by the Government. The others are in Berkshire and Herefordshire.
Two of the patients had recently travelled back from Italy while the other had returned from Asia, Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty said...

We've just got a confirmed case of coronavirus in Gloucestershire, don't know where but there's not a thing I can do about it so I won't worry until proven otherwise.8

In the FT yesterday they reported in the rolling coverage that there were some shortages of toilet paper in Japan due to panic buying as a myth was spreading that face masks were made of the same raw material so there would be supply issues coming. Apparently shoppers were being limited to one pack of loo roll each as a result. This is why prepping sensibly in advance is a good idea, to avoid being caught up in (and indeed causing) such situations!Original mortgage free date: November 2044Current mortgage free date: November 2038Chipping away...9

I have a bag of essentials for somebody in my life who has no concept of planning or saving. It initially was going to be for bad winter weather/a week with no income but I'm adding to it tomorrow. So far 8 meals, three soups and some toiletries and a few sweet treats. Kitchen roll and TP duly added to list!8

I think one of the cases is Hertfordshire not Herefordshire.5
