The Prepping Thread - A Newer Beginning ;)

Thanks Nargleblast and DigforVictory. I think I was overcomplicating things in a (bit of) a panic!
I will follow the thread from now on10 -
If you can find the time, read it from the beginning - we have cheerful outbreaks of taking an idea & getting slightly ridiculous with it (invading France still feel like a nice MSE bonding thing to do, for example) and you'll get a clear idea of what might be essential (tea, loo roll) what might be essential to someone else (gin, meds) & what is perhaps survivable without (until you've read how Easy it is to make a haybag, you won't believe you must have power all the time again!) but don't let me corrupt your prepping ideas!9

We ordered a gravity fed water filter and extra ceramic filters this morning which I hope very much never to have to use for real BUT if we do I know I can access spring water from the brook across the road and make it safe to drink. There is no definitive list for prepping but we've all got sensible amounts of tinned and dried foods, pulses, herbs and spices, dried fruit, dried yeast, sugar, flour, tea, coffee, loo rolls, medications (otc and prescribed) cooking oils, some luxuries like chocolate/biscuits/sweets, alcohol if you partake, bottled water, toiletries, household cleaning things, repair materials (sewing kit, extra buttons, tools for house repairs, first aid kit (and hopefully the knowledge required to use it), good waterproofs and good boots for if we have to leave home and a bug out bag ready packed with 3 days worth of all we'll need. It's really an individual take on what's important and what you'll need on a personal level.6

Trying to up my stash a bit in case supermarkets suspend online home delivery - but now unsure if they would do that. They could have drivers drop off the shopping on the doorstep, ring the bell then walk away. So they wouldn't be in danger of catching it. What do you all think ?
Then my next move would be to spray all the sprayable stuff with Zoflora or hydrogen peroxide before putting it in cupboards. Wearing gloves throughout.
Now need to work on the rest of the plan

I guess the difficulty is if a certain proportion of employees/ contractors providing a given service are actively off sick/ under self-quarantine, can that service still be delivered? Say, as an example, that the supermarket who provides groceries to the MardyHousehold normally as 20 drivers and 10 are away. Do they stop taking online orders for those delivery areas? Do they attempt triage, by identifying vulnerable households, such as the housebound, the elderly, those under quarantine? Do they even have the data to make those decisions?
Let's use the example of the bin crews being off sick. If a bin lorry has a driver and two loaders, and only the driver can work, what happens then? In theory, a driver could creep round part of their route and get some of the bins, but probably couldn't get a quarter of whatever a fully crewed lorry could pick up. If the refuse, recycling and food waste build up, things will get pretty unpleasant and unhealthy just from that, pretty quickly.I've been reading news stories today seeming to say that persons who are in the quarantined Italian towns are leaving them to go shopping outside the quarantine area, making a mockery of attempts at containment. Most of those people will likely not have Covid19, but some of them might be the asymtomatic infected, and who knows who they'll infect? That kind of behaviour could result in other people's deaths.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Would Zoflora work MingVase? I am very confused about what cleaning products would be suitable.
I know they say alcohol gel needs to be high alcohol but I read something saying antibac products like dettol ready to use spray might not do the trick.
Quite honestly though I have a DS who has a nervous habit of touching his eyes and thinks hand washing is for wimps so I think if its around locally it will be very hard for us to avoid it.7 -
GQ, the council has a good system of asking the park staff if they want to pick up a shift on the bin lorries, which seeing as the pay is slightly higher rate per hour the shift normally get's covered. Bro pick's up extra shift's that way, which is how I know.

In our area, these services are contracted out, to different companies. Hence it would be difficult for that sensible system to be deployed here.
