The Prepping Thread - A Newer Beginning ;)

Hands up who remembers the debate as to what documents we should digitize?
Just settled down a fretful A level candidate with photos of his GCSE certificates. UCAS forms have not got any simpler.
Alongside is another subdirectory with his brother's results. I've space on the card, I'll leave them. That, plus his scout blanket, are almost the only evidence he existed.
We prep in case. Today it paid off, big time!0 -
Good to see you back
I've still got my O Level (and erm CSE) certificates even though they ceased to have any purpose for me 35 or so years ago
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
Recently I have been waking up a little later than usual to a very cold bedroom, as the bedroom heater shuts off at 8am. I was just musing how I could get later heating without having to faff about unplugging things if I get up at a respectable time.
I've just bought another of these Timeguard mechanical timeswitches:

You can easily switch it off manually if necessary. I'll be combining it with a very old mechanical thermostat (Electronic ones seem to forget their setting when disconnected.):0 -

Then got into a spirited debate (largely with myself) as to whether expired first aid tickets count.
At least I burned my old school reports.
There's a line between prepping & Kondo I think!0 -

Yes, but have you taken digital photos & stashed the images on a card or stick to take with you in the event of a (yet further) nasty surprise?
Given his untidiness I was relieved to find the eldest’s birth certificate- but had a digital copy to help source a duplicate.
It’s worth checking all the paperwork is sorted and copied so you can find the stuff in a hurry!0 -
We lost DD1s baptism certificate. She wanted to marry in a Catholic church so had to produce a copy. I couldn't remember the name of the church where she was baptised (we'd moved since then) so persuaded DH to drive past the church next time he was working in that town. He came back and reported that the church had been demolished. It took ages on the internet to find the name of the church and then find out where the parish records were stored.1

Just a heads up preppers that some supermarkets are upping prices on things like dry pasta and marmalade tomorrow. Seems it's ahead of Brexit as these are imported items or ingredients from Europe.Spend less now, work less later.1

Thanks for the heads-up, Jazee. Marmalade? I've already got my sticky paws on 2lb of Seville oranges.
But I draw the line at making my own pasta...Angie - GC Sept 25: £226.44/£450: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)1 -

(ie a photocopy of the original) is the best bet compared to an easily stolen USB stick, or uploading to 'the cloud'. Clearly there are very machiavellian hiding places to be had, but that makes updating the info quite difficult
