Husband a bit distressed - he’s been unable to source any parsnips! Haggis without neeps is still good eating though...

A mere 230 miles each way, but tempting just the same.
What riles me is I got a small pack a month back & Himself neither cooked them nor prepped them for the freezer, (OK, neither did I, so the sting carries on.)

DfV, hope you've survived your parsnip-less New Year's celebrations! Have just had the car serviced, as my major prep for the year ahead. Still have a house full of food, but the news from the Middle East is ominous, tales of petrol hikes already. (Not something I can store at home.)

Happy New Year to everyone - has anyone seen GreyQueen? Am beginning to worry...

Herbily, first of all, Greyqueen is fine, she spent Christmas with family and is now back home and back at work.

Bad news re DigforVictory, though, her eldest son died suddenly New Years Day. You may find her on the 5 OS pleasures thread.

News re the assassination of the Iranian general is indeed concerning. My son is flying back from holidaying in Bangkok via Qatar, due to land Manchester 06:00 tomorrow. Looking on the map to see how close to Iran Qatar is was not the wisest thing I could have done today. Having said that, there is no earthly reason why there should be a problem with flights in that region. I shall still be counting the hours till I know he's back safe in this country,

DigForVictory, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I lurk here rather than post these days, but your wry, cheery voice is a wonderful presence. My heart goes out to you.
