  • Ah I do understand ccl, hope you're on the mend. I love getting out and about but we've been indoors since Monday now, and I think DD is getting a whole new bug to start it all off again...so the confinement may continue. Have made extra phonecall to my mum too.

    Exterminate 2/10

NSD 2/15. I forgot how addictive collecting them is! I have put a line in my diary for finances where I can record them and spends.

    Gratitudes
    1) my illness is fading so I can look after others who are still sick
    2) as a result of point 1 I found the energy to process 6kg of potatoes this morning (couple of rotters in the sack threatened to spoil those around them, got them all cooked up before they spoilt too)
    3) as a result of point 2 I had the perfect excuse to make chips for dinner
    4) A gratitude to also cover omm, slow living and treating; DH took care of little one whilst I had a bath rather than a shower (admittedly this was at 1330 as I was still in my PJs having got up to find rotting potatoes, a very snotty baby, a vomiting cat, an overflowing bucket of nappies to launder, nothing for DH to take for lunch tomorrow and no time for breakfast 6 hours earlier and hadn't stopped since).

I've been away visiting family this weekend so haven't had a chance to post my goals for the month, however, will do it tomorrow as want to get off to bed. Yesterday was NSD 1/15 :). Today I had some travel spends (train and bus) plus a food shop with OH once I got back.
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.9.25 - £106,033.77
    Mortgage overpayment savings - £0.35/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £738.97
  • COUNT UP TO 15 - I'm going to make my target 12 as I'm on holiday for 6 days and will be spending every day then.

ORGANISE YOUR OUTGOINGS - I did my December budgets today and overspent on visa last month by £25. This will now be taken out of my pocket money budget this month.

TREAT YOURSELF WELL - Long phone call with oldest friend this morning and did baking this afternoon

REFRAIN FROM BROWSING YOUR PHONE - Improving with this one.

OWN RULE - Forget the past, live for the moment and look forward to the future.

SLOW LIVING MONTH - Will give this some thought.

GRATITUDES - Will record these on the OS Pleasures thread.

NO TAKEAWAYS AND COFFEE SHOPS - I will aim for no takeaways but I catch up with friends and ex colleagues by meeting for coffee so will continue to do this. Keeps me cheery.

BE AN OPTOMIST - Hopefully, some of my family are very negative and sometime they do pull me down.

CANDLES - May not achieve this. I like candles but after a while they really irritate me.

SWITCH OFF TECH AN HOUR BEFORE GOING TO BED - I'll make this an hour before going to sleep as I always read for a while.

READ FICTION - No problem with this one as I always read at night.

EXERCISE - I was really good with this but got out the habit during a recent cold. Started today with a 3 mile walk in the rain.

WHAT'S THE POINT OF BEING GROWN UP - Love this one.

OUTINGS - I only have one Christmas lunch booked and a couple of meets for coffee - can't really cancel any of these. Oh and I'm going to New York on Saturday till Thursday - definitely not cancelling this ;)

EXTERMINATE, ONE BAD HABIT FROM YOUR LIFE - Still thinking on this one.

REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE BLESSED - I have a large bag of clothing etc to take to cs.

Saving GlutThats for the Info - didn't know how to do that.

Goodnight off to bed now to read for an hour xx

    NSD 2 yesterday -
I bought nothing at all from the street fair, and DH popped out for bread, so I did not have to brave the rain.

So had my little pootle around outside, did something Christmassy, and watched an appalling Christmas film about a train with DH and DS1 helpfully inserting ninjas and sharks and talking over it. fa la la la la!!

Off to sort service and MOT for my car. asap so I know how much I have left over.

  • Hi everyone,

I'm late to the party but I'd love to be a part of it for December, if you can squeeze me into the Tardis...?

I've had a bad start with spending on both the 1st and the 2nd. Determined to improve!!
  • Managed to bag my first NSD yesterday, and aiming for another today. Also paid off another tenner from the CC. DFD was originally May 2018, now April and with a bit of extra saving over the next few months could be March :money:.

Mini goal: if I don't overspend on Xmas (which will be the first time in fricking forever) I should have a YNAB net worth of zero by the end of the year! That would be a great start to 2019.

On the Xmas front, main presents are all bought, all other presents should come from family gifts. Still need to buy the Xmas tree (I indulge in a real one but don't get anything massive or expensive), stocking fillers (started) and Xmas Eve PJs. Need to do a Primark run in the next couple of weeks. Oh and wrapping paper and cards

I am not overspending on food, and this year am not buying any alcohol apart from drinks if we are hosting on NYE. I'm trying to stay AF and DH can buy his own booze. Haven't told him yet :D.

Ah, ok then ;), thanks for numbering me apple muncher.

I'm only budgeting to the 19th as the days after are covered by holiday spending money. But I still aim for 12 SFDs (all the weekdays).

The weekend days were spend days as we went to a Christmas market and Tesco. At the Christmas market I got a couple of tree decorations make from leaded glass that will add to my life time collection as we never buy new as as such, just use family "heirlooms" or the odd little addition or stuff the kids made (and that pass my standard check, lol). One day I WILL have a house big enough for a real tree again. Our current house has no free corner or two many doors etc.

First SFD today. Last Thursday I was off with DD and went to LIDL instead of doing our weekly ASDA order and managed to spend £85 despite list etc. I think I go back to ASDA for a while and do it online as that method seems to save us money as I'm better at then tweaking it to the minimum of what we need. That test was worth it though to find that out.

Got all my Christmas presents I was responsible for, just need to wrap them. Might make St Nikolaus a bit bigger this year so we don't need to haul I all over to Germany and back. So the electric toothbrushes might go into the boots on Wednesday night. Plus that way we can charge them and try them before we go.

Started making fudge for little gifts but the first batch turned out too soft despite boiling it to 112C. Maybe try a bit longer next time.

Have been doing a fair bit of self care over the weekend, reading, crocheting, listening to my new meditation app before bed, drinking less etc. Also got my motivation back, got up early this morning before everybody else to plan and have some peace. Nearly didn't go to the gym this week till I realised I got more weeks left to train then I have being away (and maybe ruining the effects). So little mind trick as not to feel I have to start from scratch in January. Will also make sure I find time a few times a week when on holiday to do a few exercises like from the sit up app or squad app.

I am on my 3rd NSD and am not finding it that difficult to resist the urge to online shop. But that’s mainly because my budget for the next 2 weeks is very tight as my rent, credit card bills & phone bill were all due out last/this week.

I have spent £12 on essential food but as I have so much pasta, sauce and rice in my cupboard I’m going to eat through that before I go shopping again. I don’t really eat much so I’m hoping it’ll all last me up until Christmas.
