Could easily be. In my city leaving 30 minutes earlier/later can result in an 60 minute journey increase and a lot more waiting with the engine off.

Different routes can also have an impact.

But you're generally right; city driving is going to be broadly similar. Thats where stop-start should excel since you likely spend as much time waiting as moving.
Well it has been established there are frequent stops.

Short stops or really long stops? You've not really provided anything to work with.

Is that for me or the op? Why would you need anything to work with? Strange.

You want an engineering report? Why on earth would you expect an explanation? Insane. I don't know why, just that it DOES. That's what matters. And mid sentence capitals of course.

It just does. OK. I don't think it's insane to ask 'why'. Your car, unique in the universe, burns LESS fuel, when you remove the ablity to switch off the engine when idle. You've tested this over an extensive time, but through totally unscientific methods. I'll give your claim the appropriate credence. It's just that you're telling us these things with such authority, that I thought you might have an idea what you're talking about, but you've just convinced yourself of something - you're not convincing me.

I have absolutely no need to convince you, i pay for the fuel-unless you are offering to pay the fuel for me? If so this has taken a turn I hadn't expected. And by unique so you mean similar to my peers at work, if so then yes. If not, well, then obviously I refer you to those findings. And mpg isn't particularly scientific when repeated in less or more is it now? Sounds like you've over thought it and got your self in a little tizzy. Silly you!

Ps, loving your use of capitals mid sentence:rotfl:

You're right, and we have absolutely no need to believe you either. We're just correcting the terrible advice you gave the OP. Turning off the stop/start to save fuel is a bad idea unless someone can convince us otherwise.

Would you prefer written emphasis to be in bold text instead? Or was the reason for mid-sentence capitalisation beyond your comprehension?

    (I see a pattern forming).

You don't of course. Also, I have absolutely no need to believe you, along with the rest of the forum, with your logic defying claim.
unless you are offering to pay the fuel for me?

    Nope.
And by unique so you mean similar to my peers at work, if so then yes

You and your peers, who you've already admitted you doubt.
And mpg isn't particularly scientific when repeated in less or more is it now? Sounds like you've over thought it and got your self in a little tizzy. Silly you!

Ha, I'm not in a tizzy, and you've been shown in this thread, via the European Urban/Extra Urban test, which are conducted under strict conditions, that MPG is indeed extremely scientific.

I'm not asking you to explain, I ask you you to think for yourself - how come my car uses MORE fuel when allowed to SWITCH OFF? Doesn't that seem strange to you? Aren't you curious?
Ps, loving your use of capitals mid sentence

Er, thanks. Just trying to EMPHASISE certain words.

but it is concerning you. Odd that.
Even if it was bad advice-which it's not, it could be tested quickly and reversed even quicker if not found to your advantage

    Nope.

didn't think so but worth a try

You and your peers, who you've already admitted you doubt.

my colleagues I do not doubt,
Geezer on a forum I don't think he's quite right on the maths but possibly/probbably on principle. The important thing is it destroys you argument against mine.

no, you shown, for no real reason what so ever that is the way the industry calculates mpg. We all know and acknowledge that it has little to no bearing on real world findings. Honest John will show that. And ancodotal evidence. The plural of which is findings;)
I'm not asking you to explain, I ask you you to think for yourself - how come my car uses MORE fuel when allowed to SWITCH OFF? Doesn't that seem strange to you? Aren't you curious?
doesn't seem strange and not very curious as it's not something I can control.
Of course you've missed the point that the increased fuel use I suspect (But don't know or more importantly, even care) is probbably due to the restarting as opposed to the shut down

Er, thanks. Just trying to EMPHASISE certain words.it is silly. And also very, very internet. See memes regarding the power of caps....very amusing
    As above .
