That's the whole point - you DIDN'T. You inferred EVERYONE should do it (post #2), whereas what you meant was that YOU do it.

Do try to keep up dear boy/girl/whatever. ;)
Yeah, everyone should do it. I know for a fact it saves me money, try it and might save you money too. In the case of the OP it's the same make of car as I currently have and similar driving to what I do so I still suggest it. A discussion on a forum ain't gonna change the cold hard facts.

The cold hard facts are that literally everyone else on here, and most of the sources of information on the internet disagree with you.

I think at least, because you've even conceded that it'll save fuel if you're stopped for at least 8 seconds.

Turning off a fuel saving technology in order to save fuel doesn't make any sense. Turning it off because it's annoying is a totally different matter.

Yes but no one on here has been useful enough to be trustworthy have they? And most of the sources? I can can find for both. The same can be said of any argument, trying to find evidence for any side by googling is a fools errand. Luckily I have experimented and know what the case is.
  • So!!! ;)
It like I should do a test - stop start off/on...and make conclusions from there!
Clearly things are not as straightforward as car manufacturers let you believe (not that I hadn’t realised this...but it’s just another case in point!)
Appreciate all the comments, interesting reading.

Let's not forget that he even agrees some of his own sources are utter guff - until he's asked to be explicit about that, then he backtracks.

Yes, simple enough to test. And there are good hyper miling guides on the web too. Then there's basic maitainance and correct tyre pressures. Some simple gains to be made

My source is me. My car, my driving, my fuel, my expenses claims. It CANNOT be wrong cos the numbers are there in black and white. I refrenced others that agree and find the same at work. They have the same findings, and have the same source, their car, fuel, mileage expense claims. I presume they are correct. Then I refrenced others on a proper forum, one that has decent info on, they again, sound legit. There was one who had specifics about time which I'm not sure about but has a proven track record of being genuine. I don't wholly agree with the principles he puts down yet have no reason to doubt him.
Every one here, well couldn't trust anything they say, that poor bloke the other week who incorrectly rented a car on the recommendation of someone on here is evidence enough that this forum isn't great for advice.

So as long as the OP drives your route, at the same times of day, uses your car to do it, and replicates your exact driving style, he might save a few pence. Otherwise your results are completely meaningless.

How on earth would you arrive at that conclusion? Glue? How about same mark, same kind of driving, the variable would be the driver and possibly the fuel? Similar enough to get meaningful similar results isn't it.

Your posts are become less comprehensible as this thread goes on. What does glue have to do with anything? And the rest of the post is just as peculiar. I can feel an Ignore coming on...
