I haven't heard of it being necessary but they may be suggesting it now however I'd wait until you get there and check out Walmart for cheapo water shoes and don't wait to buy at DC. The lazy river can be pretty rocky underfoot so a good idea to wear them for that, also at the water parks its very hot to walk on the paths barefoot so I'm sure you would get a fair amount of use out of them and I'd bin them at the end of the holiday.
I see from your previous questions you asked about developing your films, take them them to Walmart while you are there and its only a few dollars to get them developed there and put onto a cd too.0 -

We've never bothered, but the paths can get very hot and the floors in the toilet & changing areas can be wet, as in any water park.

Hi,
I've been keeping an eye on the Kennedy Website and they've just added two launches on dates when we'll be there, the 9th and 11th September.
Not being a very rocketing person, but someone with an eager family to experience this, can anyone tell me if these launches are worth going too?
The kennedy site says they're taking off from Cape Canaveral Air Base. Is this close to NASA - the family would also like to go to the space centre.
What's the cheapest way to do this "package". Is it possible to watch the rocket launch from outside the base (i.e. free) or is this against rocket launch ethics? Is there a recommended 'freebie' location to do this from?
Does anyone have any tips about the best Space Centre package - we're a family of two adults, two children?
Thanks so much for your advice.

Hi I watched a night launch of the shuttle in 1996 when I was in Orlando. I throughly enjoyed it just to say you've seen it. We went to the Kennedy Space Centre viewing area which is where lots of people go. There was an admission fee as you went inside limited parts of the centre and got to look at some of the exhibits even though it was the middle of the night. This is one of the closest places you can get to view a launch, however you are still miles away and if it is a night launch you won't really be able to make out the actual rocket or shuttle, but will just see a ball of flames going up into the sky, you will also here communiciations between the launch centre and shuttle/rocket if it is manned. You can also buy launch gifts such as mission badges/t shirts etc which was a great souvenir to remember your visit. I'm over in Orlando myself from 8th Sept so may consider taking a look at the launch if it go's ahead as they are often delayed by weather. Enjoy it!!0 -

Most that I have found only sleep four in the family rooms, and the alternative is staying further out and using their complimentary transport which I have had bad experience of, particularly on return to UK when tired and just wanting to get home.
Many thanks!
Hi
I we are also a family of 5 so know exactly what you mean, we flew to Orlando last xmas from Gatwick, but stayed in the comfort inn at Heathrow, family room for 5 only £50, we then drove to gatwick the next morning only about 1hr or so.
We parked at the off site car park it was very reasonable, and easy, can't remember exactly how much, but all booked over the internet.
Booked to go again next Easter!:j0 -

"May 12 – Sesame Street returns to Seaworld …
This summer will see the return of Sesame Street characters in an all new show "Elmo and Abby's Treasure Hunt". It will run from May 24th until September 1st and will feature favourites such as Elmo, Cookie monster and Grover. There will also be a Sesame Street characters breakfast from 8.30-10.30 where guests can meet Elmo, Big Bird, Grover, Zoe, Ernie and Cookie Monster. The price will be $16.95 for adults and 414.95 for children but reservations will be needed."
I didn't know they did character breakfasts there. Love to meet Bert and Ernie myself! Any ideas on where the breakfasts might be?:T
We did this!
We did it because our daughter has loved Elmo since she was 18 months old (she is now 12!). It was marketed as 'Breakfast with Elmo and Friends' and took place a the Seafire Inn. We didn't know who the 'friends' would be. We saw Elmo, Zoe, Grover, Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Bert & Ernie, and had our photos taken with them all (there are official photographers but they will also take photos with your own camera if you ask). We did the 8.30 and there was only about 8 families/tables so we had a really long time with all the characters. (We were told that he 10.30 sitting is usually busier.) There was a song & dance bit on the stage, then all the characters, apart from Big Bird came down to where we were sitting at the tables. To visit Big Bird you had to go up on the stage. And the breakfast was pretty good too!
Our daughter was a bit embarrassed to begin with as she was the oldest child there (by quite a few years) but the lady minding Big Bird told her that they have done parties for adults who love the characters.
