Definately cheaper to buy in advance; lots of on-line sources available it just depends where you want to go and for how long (variety of ticket options is amazing!)

    thanks for the reply.

    any links for sites?
    ...work permit granted!
  • We're off to orlando the end of may and will be having a day at discovery cove, can anyone tell me what the foods like there(my son and i are really picky eaters!)and do they take photos of you that you can view and then buy?(if so roughly how much arev they?)im taking an underwatwer camera and im just a bit worried the photos dont turn out!Does anybody have an idea how much it costs to get a film developed?thanks in advance for any replies.x
  • Hi,

We are repeat visitors to FL. We have flown with both Virgin and Travel City Direct (virgin flies into Orlando Intl whilst TCD fly into Sanford) Sanford is an extra 30 mins drive away, but you can get some massive savings with TCD so this may well be worth the extra drive. virgin tend to be quite expensive, and they lost our cases so we wouldnt go with them again. TCD do use older planes but lets face it at the end of the day its only your taxi to the states. They are safe and thats what matters. we have never encountered a problem with their service.(plus if your wanting to book n advance can do so by upto 18mths with TCD, thus giving you time to save) you can get to Florida otherways by using an american airline, but by doing this you have to change at their hub in america, atlanta, chicago and the likes, then you dont end up landing in orlando until about 8pm (its about 1400-1600hrs if you go direct) and if you havent been before, driving whilst tired and in the dark in florida is no fun!

I would highly recomend the bahma bay resort, very clean, very reasonable rates and easily accesible (once you know where it is) anyone on here been and know marty the barman?? what a star!!

with regards to attractions for the olds. them main theme parks are very tiresome as a lot of walking is required. Seaworld isnt too bad as there are a lot of shows there so more resting time. also check out Discovery cove, BOOKING IS REQUIRED. but this is very relaxing, swim with th dolphins if you wish. if not just go round an round in the lazy river.

The food at discovery cove is Brill, its more fast food stuff, chicken/burgers/hotdogs. chips salad etc. its pretty basic, but nice food. Take your own camera, you can buy underwater cameras on location but there dearer, to get the film developed its no more expensive they just rip the case off and yor left with a normal camera film. unless its a non disposable and in that case i presume theres a spcial way of opening the case to get to the normal film. They will take photos of you everywhere, with dolphins(if yor doing this) in the bird sanctuary. (these are particularly good as the birds land on you to eat pots of food) and at various other points round the park. the packages are quite expensive but well worth it on your first visit. Make sure you buy the CDROM with your photos on as you can then print our own at home!! hope this helps any more questions just ask.

For all you thinking of going to Florida why not shop at Tesco and save points and shop online for extra points and then convert to clubcard deals and go to Florida for free. i have seriously shopped since xmas and have enough to go to florida in November with Virgin, one week at Hard Rock Cafe and one week in a villa. Yipee!!! so now i can use all my money saved to spend, spend, spend!

how much have you spent in tesco to acheive this and how does it work, seems worth looking into!

you buy the package deal, its like school photos but a hell of a lot more! from memory its around $160 but the photos are really good quality and the shots they get are amazing, they know exactly what to take and when to take them, you wont even know theyve been taken until they take you to the computer hut. the underwater camera is a must, infact take 2!! there is a big salt water lagoon you can swim in, and the fish in there are great and theres even an enclosed shark tank, you are responsible for your own photos here. make sure you get there early to get a good spot on the "beach" hope this helps

I bought the CD DVD of the swim with the dolphins and 2 large photos of me with the dolphin- it worked out to be about £45 ($90) which seemed expensive at the time, but it was worth it to have the photo and the DVD, although I have only watched it once since coming back. The photos are very good quality.

Food was nice and the all inclusive element was good too, everything is free at the park, other than the photos and any merchandise you want to buy.

Discovery Cove is a brilliant park and is a really welcoming relaxing day off from the theme parks. We had a great time there, it really is lovely, only complaint was that the day went too fast!
Nice Shoes & Expensive Designer Handbags, are my downfall!
